840-acre state-operated Wildlife Area along the north Fork of the Purgatoire River. Approximately 35 miles NW of Trinidad on Col. Hwy 12, the Wildlife area is halfway between Stonewalll and the southern approach to Cuchara Pass. Two separate units, a small lake, nestled in a bend of Hwy 12 and a larger area running west into the adjoining San Isabel National Forest along both sides of the North Purgatoire.
