Cute short stop that is worth the detour off I-70.

We are camping near by so we figured we would check it out. As you are driving down the road before you turn in, it looks like a fail. But once you turn down the short dirt road, it’s a pleasant surprise.

There is a cute wooden house that I would love to see inside, but it is not open for that. There is a small boutique to the right where you can get handmade Alpaca Fur hats, toys and all. Plus some magnets and shirts. They also have small bags of feed for the Alpacas. $3 a bag or 2 for $5. Not bad, since actually feeding and petting the Alpacas is free.

The Alpacas (there is something like 30 of them. Maybe more. Are in 4 different areas. It is completely free to walk up and pet them. No catch, no signing in, no buddy to hound you. Just park and walk up.

The place is immaculate. They were rakeing and picking up leaves and Alpaca poop the entire time we were there.

It’s so cute...

Your kids will love you for taking them to Sopris Alpaca Farm. As you will see in the pictures and video we posted, we have a very cute little girl. These posted pictures and video prove that cute little girls love Sopris Alpaca Farm. I can only assume cute little boys love the Sopris Alpaca Farm as well, but someone one else will have to post pics to prove that theory.

About Alpacas: Probably no surprise to most, but they will spit on you (more of a kin to a sneeze ), but it will build toughness and character in your sheltered child. Also, occasionally, they will nibble on fingers. While our little girl cried a couple of times, she went right back to feeding with her little fingers. She also left with all 10 fingers...

Sad we were supposed to stay there overnight in our RV thru Harvest Host. We got there about 6:30, not too late but late. Google Maps had us going across a mountain road that we had to turn around go back and go around the mountain because our vehicle was too long for the hairpins and narrows. When we got to the farm there was no one to be found. We tried calling, texting, messaging, could not get a response. There was not a clear parking area, and we did not feel comfortable staying without knowing where we should park. So we didn't stay. I was so looking forward to staying here. I'm a knitter and wanted to stock up on some yarn for Christmas gifts. Also wanted to pet some...

I had to take a very fast and long drive to Colorado from California and needed to kill a little time in Silt. Words can’t even describe how much I enjoyed this place! The property is stunning, and the animals are so clearly well cared for. I ended up coming back for the cool breeze and lawn later in the afternoon. The staff is wonderfully friendly and I bought some beautiful gloves and an ornament. What a little gem! The fact that it’s free, in this day and age, is pretty amazing considering they have bathrooms and a lovely place to visit! The least you can do is buy a five dollar bag of grain!
