So beautiful! A great day of fun for the family. Nice, cold mountain river creating air conditioning with the shady trees. Now, you NEED good shoes! The hike to the river is short but intense! You will feel it! Watch for copper heads, cotton mouthsno need to fear, just remember they blend in so well you might be on top.of one before you realize it. Sturdy steps to let them feel you coming and away 🐍 🐍 slither they don't want to see us either! PLEASE... PLEASE do NOT litter! A group threw their food trash out on the road! I feel ashamed for them. This is hatchery supported fishing and game lands! It's very important to keep it as clean as possible! Bring a bag for your trash! Bring a snack for everyone keep those doggos safe with...

Very woodsy and mountainous territory. It's quite expansive with the local wildlife very much undisturbed.

Deer abound the occasional bear, turkeys and pretty much any other kind of animal you can think of that would be in an area such as this. It's also one of the most biodiverse places I've ever been, almost completely untouched as undisturbed.

There are waterfalls and mountains on the notorious Switchback Mountain Roads which can be a little scary and exciting at the same time. I highly recommend it.

Hiking trails, bicycle trails kayaking tubing companies. The Green River, which runs through It, is in the top five the most utilized recreational Rivers in North Carolina.

Go check it out a Wonder...

Fishermen are made to pay but kayakers are not. This is unfare, they do not give fishermen the right of way even though we pay for upkeep on river by purchasing license. Kayakers should have to Pay A Fee to use the river since they cause destruction to river banks and they disturb people fishing. Kayakers do not own the river and will not override those of us who pay to fish. We have a license,we fisherman supersede the kayakers and always have the right of way.

A unique place that combines elements of the NC mountains with the western Piedmont, which makes sense given the big elevation change. The trails are very raw, and largely uncrowded despite the number of people you'll see on the river. The upper level trails (on the north side) are more meh, as many of them are basically just forest roads, and there are some tracts that were recently logged. Lots of potential here!
