Came up on Easter Sunday and Transgender Day of Visibility to try a new vinery.
Company (other winery guests) was great. Service was terrible.
Me and my wife ordered 2 flights to get a sample of what the winery offers. We got our first of 4 glasses and then had to wait what seemed like 20 minutes to be acknowledged and get our second glass.
We nearly left before receiving our 2nd glass.
I felt like every time we were given a glass of our flight we were then ignored, forgotten about, or handed off to someone else.
For a flight of 4 glasses we had between 3 to 5 servers helping up. On average, we had to wait 10 - 15 minutes between glasses.
The Winery did not appear to be very busy.
Live music was being performed when we arrived. It stopped without any announcement of the performer taking a break. This lead to a awkward silence with no music and no service.
Wine is good. Service needs work.
Would not recommend. Will likely not return.
As for your comment that you expect tasting to take 30 - 45 minutes, is that for the entire tasting of 4 glasses or per glass? If it's per glass, that a long time for a few sips. I can see 30- 45 minutes for full glasses, not samples.
We only had one staff member give anything other than the written description of the wines we sampled.
You may have staff rotate between guests and that's fine. We had to explain to each staff member what we had ordered. We had at least one staff member say point blank that she got to talking to other guests and forgot about us. Another staff member said that we weren't in her section so basically ignored us.
If a regular guest hadn't gotten a staff member for us shortly after we had gotten there, I don't know who long we would have waited to place an order or if we would have stayed to even order.
Also wheelchair access is lacking. Gravel walkways are more difficult to navigate. Wooden ramps were a little too steep. My wife was uncomfortable with the steepness of the wooden ramps...
Read moreUpon arriving, breathtaking property. The best part of our visit. Decent Chardonnay and Merlot. But very disappointed in the inside atmosphere and staff. Felt like a beach bar in the mountains. Kind of Jersey Shore feel. No customer service especially since we said we had never been there before. Loud, party atmosphere. We wanted to do a tasting but whites for me and reds for the husband. Owner pulled the second glass off bar and said you have to use one glass for the two of you! What the heck? Oh my! She was beyond rude. Rather than immediately telling her off, I insisted we be classy and try the wines out of one glass. No class at all. I think they need Volume of paying customers instead of interested wine connoisseurs . Only saving grace was the grandson who is the winemaker. He spent a few minutes with my husband explaining their cab which was not available at the bar. But polite and seemed interested in the customer. And the husband owner is inside shouting “Shoot the damn Yankees.” Ok, but half the people sitting in your bar are transplanted “Yankees” including me and the owners. This winery was a first and last visit for us! And I am sure the owners...
Read moreMy wife and I have now been to 30+ wineries in NC. We rate them based on Wine Physical (infrastructure & scenery) People - the vibe (proprietors and visitors)
Parker-Binns scores 10 in each category and is our #1 fav. But it's bigger than a fav winery....
Look, toward the end of it all, we'll all look back at our lives and remember special people we've met along the way. There's no doubt, at the top of that list, my wife and I will recall Karen, Bob and Kelly- all are exceptional people. I mean beautiful. You'll always leave feeling good equally from sharing time with the peeps as well as enjoying the vino.
And the views! Wow. Whether up at the barn or at the warm lower area, the views are beautiful and memorable.
These people are on their game as vintners in the growing capacity. Their new-in-2018 Petite Manseng may be the best dry white in NC. Their rose is special and all the reds rock.
From the first time we came, when we scheduled to come for 1 hour and stayed for 5, and every time since, we've had a blast. As James Taylor sang, "the secret to life is enjoying the passage of time". This truth is self-evident upon every visit to...
