My sister moved into these apartments in Jan, after being on the waiting list since Oct. When her apartment became available she went to see it & it was dirty but they promised to have it cleaned again. The day before her move, she was told the apartment looks so nice & was cleaned so well & all ready for her to move in, that was lie #1. When we got there, that place was FILTHY, NASTY FILTHY. Due to my sisters health issues, she's unable to do a lot so i had to clean that WHOLE HOUSE MYSELF. It looked like the previous tenant just moved out the day before. Her hair was everywhere especially in the bathrooms. The toilets & showers werent clean at all. Even tho you should always wipe down bathrooms when you first move into an apartment, i didnt expect to be on my hands & knees scrubbing the way i did. It was DISGUSTING. The rental office should have paid me for that cause i did someone else's job. We couldnt even put things up right away cause i had to thoroughly clean everything first. The laundry room had so much lint all over everything, the kitchen & appliances were nasty, most especially the fridge, which had hair & dust in it & everything else was greasy, sticky & FULL OF DUST. The stove & microwave needs to be replaced. Nobody wants to cook on a nasty stove used by the previous tenant, who looked like she never cleaned. The stove & microwave are out of the dinosaur era. I had the exact same stove in my apt in 1996 & it was a few years old then & clearly that oven had NEVER BEEN CLEANED by the previous tenant. When the microwave handle broke, that should have been their window of opportunity to just replace it but NOPE, instead they put some glue on it & told her not to open the microwave from the bottom of the handle. I grab my microwave handles anywhere & they dont fall off. When she spoke to the rental ofc, the lady told her as long as the appliances are working, they wont change them, no matter the condition or how old they are. S/N- the lady in the rental ofc said she lives in the neighborhood & I'd bet my life on it, that she doesn't have the same old appliances that my sister has. So we went to the ofc to let them know how unhappy she was & how disappointing her apt was & the lady said, the lady who she spoke to previously, is no longer there (GOOD) & they werent aware of her complaints so she said she would talk to the manager about her appliances & see what they can do for her, That was lie #2 cause that was about 3wk+ ago & nobody has even attempted to come look at her raggedy appliances or gotten back to her about it. Then to make matters worse, maintenance had to come into her home for something while she was at work so she gave them the code to her alarm system WITH INSTRUCTIONS so they can get in & out but did they use them? Absolutely not. Instead my sister gets a call at work saying her alarm is going off & police were sent to her house so she got a $25 bill from the state cause they said she should have given the rental ofc her code, WHICH SHE DID. Now the rental ofc is saying they wont pay for it. It was their fault, not hers. She did what she was supposed to do but maintenance & rental ofc didnt so she's going to fight that. It seems like they are only worried about getting u in but once you're lease is signed, they dont care anything about you after that. You dont treat your tenants like that, especially not with the rent they charge. They are just basically blowing her off. The apartment itself is nice, once i finally got it cleaned. I love the high ceilings, the master bedroom shower, which is one of the biggest showers ive ever seen & i love her walk in closet, which is actually what made her choose this place. The neighborhood grounds seem to be well kept, the landscaping is pretty & neighbors seem to be very friendly but she doesnt live outside, she lives inside so they cant get more than 2 stars after what my sister has been thru & the back breaking cleaning i had to do. 4mos later same old dirty appliances, no response but her rent is ALWAYS EARLY....
Read moreI don't typically write reviews but I feel like those who work at Waters Edge deserve a shoutout for the job they do, and that a public review would be more helpful than an email. If you're considering moving in- here's what you should know:
Pros: Office Staff are very friendly and helpful (Lauren especially) Maintenance is quick and efficient. I've only ever had small problems but they had them fixed in less than a day The grounds are extremely well kept, I've legit never seen a complex take such good care of their property The gates actually work & security is constantly patrolling the grounds after dark. Most complexes with a "gated community" is just bs. These give a nice sense of extra security I've seen reviews below complaining about drug use but that's simply not the case. Besides the occasional "oh that's weed", its just not an issue No bugs. I can count on one hand the number of bugs I've found in my apartment this year- thank god Rent is comparatively very reasonable to other places in Cbus. Most nice 1-bedrooms you're paying at least $850, starts at $700 here for very solid apartments It actually feels like a neighborhood. Most apartments feel like apartments, but waters edge feels like a real, nice, neighborhood.
Cons: The address system is kind of funky. UPS/Amazon/Fed-Ex drivers typically have it down so packages are fine, but if you're having guests or food delivery- they may need some help finding your place No dogs :(
TLDR; Go look at other apartment reviews around Columbus and count the number of ones over 4 stars- good luck. There's a reason the wait-list here is so long. If you get the chance to move...
Read moreAbsolutely loved living here! Little slice of heaven in the middle of the city. I’ve lived in many apartments and this was by far the best.
Pros: Extremely friendly/helpful staff Large, cozy apartments Fireplaces Lake/wood views Sense of community Alum creek trail (ran here many times) Gym Sauna Pool Trails around the complex Easy access to 33/70 Gated Easy parking access Storage units Quick maintenance Security patrol (I felt extremely safe here) I could go on and on.
My only con is not really a con but more of an FYI. If you have a roommate, they return your deposit with a check made out to both of you with an “and” between the names meaning both persons have to be present to cash the check. This was a bit tricky since I had moved out of state by the time the deposit check was mailed. Just something to be aware of.
Thank you Waters Edge for a lovely last...
