I've driven by this museum dozens of times over the years on my way up M-33, but never during business hours, so I've never made a stop there. Today, as I drove by again, I realized that the planets had aligned, and I was there during the museum's operating hours. My dad and I decided to stop, as neither of us had ever been. We walked around the grounds and saw some pretty great agricultural artifacts from the past two centuries. The Fairview Schoolhouse was an interesting find as well. We then proceeded to enter the museum.... Or try to anyway. As it turns out, despite the hours on Google being posted as 12pm-4pm, Saturday and Sunday, the museum was closed at 3pm today (Saturday).
Disappointing as that was, however, I'm still glad that we stopped because there was still a lot of great local history to see around the grounds. One day, I definitely look forward to an opportunity to actually go inside and check out the rest...
Read moreWe arrived 1:00 pm on Saturday afternoon. They must have seasonal hours as they were closed even though the entrance sign said they were Open 12:00 to 4:00 on Saturday's. My buddy and I walked around the outside of the buildings and peaked in the windows. Couldn't see much. We looked at the old farm equipment that were under the shelters. Very interesting but it would have been nice if there was a sign telling what each piece was and how it worked, and possibly a picture of it working in a field. We will come back and check in again when we are back...
