I have over 20 years of experience in the field of education working with children. I can say with the utmost sincerity that the staff employed at this location are condescending, impatient, and unfit to work with children. The site manager, Keith Doms, held 13-15 year old summer campers to unrealistic expectations. He yelled at the kids, threatened them, and physically assaulted a child by pushing him to the ground. He is a liability to the Mill and should not be working with children. Once we made up our mind to leave, he beat us to it and gathered the kids around. He proceeded to tell the teenagers that they were of no help and then asked us to leave. Many of the kids did a lot of work and as a competent adult, That knows how children operate, I was proud of them. Keith’s ineptitude to understand kids and properly delegate and execute his job functions was overtly obvious. His frustration got the better of him when he put his hands on a child. This shameful act is reprehensible and disgusting.

Luckily, the local police are looking into this matter as well as the child’s parents. This man is a danger to children and needs to understand the consequences of his actions. I hope the mill takes this matter seriously and proceeds to take the necessary actions to ensure this kind of experience never happens again.

I think Keith owes an apology to the kids, but I know that would be a tall order for him. I instead made sure to enforce the positive aspects of community service after Keith shattered their experience.

I hope you get the...

Gorgeous property with many authentic old historically relevant buildings as part of a Living Museum, a working Grist Mill buy fresh ground cornmeal for $5 a bag to support this and eat well!). There are also many well thought out and well marked trails, a sample butterfly garden with great ecological social value to the community: an important contribution to society in these times when maintaining bee and Butterfly populations is so important to all of our well our agriculture health and well-being. You will hear and see road noise and movement from some trails but it's still quite beautiful. Some trails require crossing a stream on large flat rocks which the less agile might find challenging but I found quite fun even in church garb!

There are many wonderful concerts events educational and artistic including a photography show currently. There's at least one cabin and Pavilion area that can be rented for special events and the place is just...

This is a fantastic site to see! I definitely recommend a stop here is you are in the area. The mill is powered by and internal overshoot wooden water wheel. It powers two sets of mill stone.

Here is an excerpt from the SPOOM mil register.

Large stone & frame mill, built by Nathanial Newlin. It was fully restored by the Newlin Mill Foundation. Also, a 1739 stone mill house, stone farm house, etc. Inside wooden waterwheel, 16 ft X 4 ft, with 52 buckets. 2 millstones, 42 inches and 48 inches in diameter. Also parts of an up-and-down saw. Admission charge. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, 1983. Address: 219 S. CHEYNEY RD. Now home to the Society of Preservation of Old Mills (SPOOM) archives. Absolutely Gorgeous. Myself, my nephew, and my brother were HIGHLY impressed with how immaculate this park and the trails are maintained! We didn't see a single piece of refuse or any heavy evidence of human activity other than the folks we saw out walking the trails along with us. The boardwalks are beautiful, the trails and the scenery are all just absolutely stunning. It's the perfect size to spend maybe an hour or two to just walk around and take it all in. You could have a picnic, or enjoy one of the guided tours, this place is an absolute treasure meant to be cherished by people that know the true meaning of how precious the few places we have left like this........I mean we had such a perfect Sunday today and we plan to return for sure!

I came here on their Fall Festival Day and was not disappointed. It was well worth getting up at 6 am and traveling by Septa 2 and a half hours. They put on a wonderful exhibition of 19th century lifestyle at this mill site and home of the Newlin family still in their possession. Located on Cheney Road and Baltimore Pike, Glen Mills Delaware County. They had exhibitions of colonial health cooking, the reconstruction of the Grist Mill, hayrides, Colonial Revelers and historic demos. They have 8.5 miles of trails tree farm and archeological items and digs. Blacksmith shop was very interesting. Great place for a family fun/education day. I really enjoyed this visit and will return soon.
