Worst experience EVER!!!!!!! Ordered a handycap accessable cabin for four days, a week and a half in advance before the date. Two days later I called to cancel two of the four days. I called several times each day to make sure they knew I cancelled and just wanted two days instead. NO ONE returned my calls, by the fourth day, I left another message stating that I would like a full refund if no one will get back to me. Another 3-4 days past, and finally the day of, someone calls me to apologize for not getting back to me for my call the day before. I simply replied in question (wrinkling my forhead) "Yesterday?????? I've called you several times last week concerning a cancelation, and no one has returned my call since I've been calling, and this is the first time I've gotten a response, and my last call was about 3-4 days ago. He told me he couldn't give me money back for the first two nights and he'll see what he could do about to the other two nights. At this point It was already 3pm and i didn't even have anything packed because there had been Absolutely NO COMMUNICATION up to this point. It took an additional 3 and a half hours to get to the park sight with packing and when our family of six arrived we had to wait another 20minutes for a park ranger to give us Keyes. When we got to the cabin it wasn't handycap accessable, the stairs were to steep for any pregnant woman to get up and down let alone unpacking, and.....you couldn't even access the cabin's front entrance, because it was blocked by trees and big rocks. This was not looking good. So, we went back to the park ranger explained what was going on, he offered our family a cabin that could be available if someone else didn't show up, which ment we would have to wait one hour with hungry kids in the van. Then he said you can have either the other two, but you would have to move back to the first cabin which was cabin six, because it was being rented the next day. All we wanted was a first time wilderness experience with our family to be the most memorable, and it was turning into a nightmare. Check in was at 3 and by 7:30pm we are still having to stand around waiting for someone else to hopefully not show up, just so we could get the cabin we specifically asked for (HANDYCAPPED ACCESSABLE!!!!!) So, Drew the park ranger called his manager and explained the situation, and he called us while we were out trying to get food and firewood cause the park didn't have any, to tell us that the other cabin's were no longer an option because it needs to be ready for the guest coming in tomorrow. So this is my question????? What do you do when one person rents for a day and then the next person rents the next day? ( You clean the room and ready it for the next guest. Not sure why it was even a Hassel for them to even accommodate us that way, but ok Einstein!!! It's interesting to note that online and on the phone we were told that when you rent a cabin it must be a minimum of two days, yet the person who had what we needed and asked for, had a one day rental. (Shaking my head) and (Confused!!!) By the end of all of this, we simply just said for this Hassel, we just want a FULL refund as asked from the beginning. It was stated to us by the park ranger Drew, who contacted his superior that he would by no means refund us for the four nights, but only two. Say what!!!!!!!!?????? I am completely and utterly appalled that this is how you would service and treat paying customers!!!! If I could give this review No stars, I would. It is Now 8pm, and my family and I did not get the camping experience hoped for and have to travel a long way back home as a result of the inconsiderate, incompitant, and completely unprofessional staff and management of this camp and park sight. You All should be ashamed of yourselves!!!!!! I will never recommend this place to anyone after the mistreatment and experience our family had with...
Read moreAt one point it was a nice place to have a swim and go for a walk but I guess word got out. It's rural setting and location made it perfect for those of us who live north of Concord in the county. I went to summer camp here every year as a kid and really enjoyed the place.
We went to the pool at the end of last year and had to leave within half an hour of arriving because so many people showed up in regular clothes instead of swimwear that the chemical balance was unsafe. We went over the weekend and the place was at maximum capacity with no seating. Waited half an hour in the heat to get in the gate just to find no empty seats and no one willing to make room. Staff were extremely unhelpful and apathetic. When asked where a seat may be found or if they could open the unused birthday section for additional seating they merely looked up from the card game they were playing with dumbfounded looks and never said a word but merely stuttered uhh...uhhh...uhhhh. When entering were told our bottle of water was not allowed but found others already inside with cases of soda and bags of chips and sandwiches from home as well as food being passed through the fence. Ended up having to put our towels down on the wet concrete and sit against the fence. We endured it for about an hour before saying screw it and leaving.
I think the place could be fixed with a little care and attention from the apathetic staff. They might actually be a little more helpful if they would simply look up from the card game once in a while. Possibly make the number of seats actually match the capacity. The sad part is folks were using chairs for places to sit sunscreen and food, towels for children that are going to be in the water 95% of the time, and other things. It's unacceptable to have one guest using two chairs to prop their feet on but others are forced to sit on...
Read moreWe camped for two nights at Site 4 in September. Our site backed up to the pond and has a little pad for two chairs, perfect little nook for fishing, though we caught nothing in our futile attempts.
The site was clean and well shaded. Tent sites are $15, Cabins $50. Trash and recycling bins are on each site. You are not allowed to keep your vehicle here so that’s a bit of a downer, especially with wanting to keep all food inside each night. We ended up just keeping it locked up tight in our camping bin outside without issue. There is no potable water, so be sure to bring your own. No electric hookup. There are no outlets anywhere, not in the bathrooms, the pavilions, etc. so be sure you have a converter to inflate your mattresses and charge your devices via your vehicle. There is a BBQ grill on site as well as a fire pit with grill over top.
Check in was easy and they escort you to the site, so not to worry if you get in right before dark. Gate locks at 8pm and you can’t get back in if you leave. Quiet hours were not observed but we have noticed this is a common issue nowadays. You can hear dogs barking from the area housing, so be sure to bring something to play some white noise.
We enjoyed it and will be back. If you have a family wanting to camp together, perhaps some wanting to tent and others wanting to cabin, our tent site #4, was right next to a cabin that would be perfect for sharing with...
