Water was too high to enjoy the river view. Lost more walk zones due to washed away dirt. There is nice pull off parking. Trees are filling in by bridge. No restrooms. Be careful as on North side is a tight turn so hard to see tourists in the road. So stay on the east side and not downhill traffic side. Beautiful bridge and nice river to play in when low water.

First covered bridge I've ever seen, I thought it was so neat! Liked we were able to drive across it and then get out & walk through it. I enjoyed seeing it, was glad I went.

A great covered bridge down a dirt/stone road off the beaten path. We were there for about an hour and didn't as much as hear another vehicle. Peaceful serenity.

Middle Road Covered Bridge is located on Middle Road, spanning 136-feet across Conneaut Creek. The Bridge is supported by stone abutments and two concrete piers at quarter points. The Bridge has a Howe truss construction and was built in 1868. In 1984, the north end of the bridge dropped 18 inches. The County Engineer temporarily shored up the bridge until restoration was done. The County Engineer called for volunteers. Three men, four paid college students, and several county employees under the County Engineer's supervision, completed the restoration in six months. The refurbishment included constructing the piers, jacking up and straightening the Bridge and strengthening the lower chords with treated lumber. The Bridge originally only had an 8 inch overhang on the portals. This allowed water to drip inside, rotting the wood and causing serious problems which could have resulted in the loss of the Bridge. The workers extended the portals by two feet to remedy the situation. The Bridge is 136-feet long. The exterior has an asphalt shingled roof and naturally weathered wood siding. A long narrow window stretches down each side of the bridge, exposing the Howe truss. Middle Bridge stands today due to the ingenuity of Ashtabula's Engineer and the work of...

Remote country area with space to pull over on the southern end of this bridge. There is a box offering free Ashtabula county maps in this little pullover area. There are no trespassing signs on both sides of the road surrounding the bridge making access to the water below difficult for walking or fishing...
