Well, the wait is over and Desert Diamond White Tanks is open. I go to DD West Valley (WV) every week, so I've been anxious for the new location and it was a bit of a let down.
Restrooms - No automatic seat covers like at the WV location. The lock on my stall door was already broken. The paper towel dispenser is on the wall behind the sink. I'm 5'5 and had to stretch so far to reach it, I was nearly on my tippy toes. Good luck to anyone shorter.
Update - went back a few days later and the restroom has overflowing trash and the first stall I tried was out of TP. What is up with this locations Clean Team? The WV location is always fully stocked and spotless. I literally pass someone cleaning it every time I go in. At least there was a more convenient paper towel dispenser available...until I took the last paper out of it.
Food Court - Lots of new selections, so that was good. Too bad nothing on display in the cases had prices. Good luck selling it.
There isn't a lot of seating. Maybe half of what the WV location has. I spent almost 13.00 on a Philly cheesesteak and it wasn't even close to being worth it. The bun was just slightly bigger than a hotdog bun. The 'pocket' of the bun was full of cold peppers and onion, and there was the meat and cheese on top that was mostly hot. The whole thing should have been hot and bigger.
My friend had warm, not hot, chicken tenders. I hope this was because they are all new and still getting used to things.
No hair nets as required by FDA food handling requirements. Is this because it's tribal land and the requirement is federal? Seems like it should just be common sense and cleanliness. Three out of the four people I saw handling the food had long or poofy hair. That made me cringe a bit.
Casino Floor - I like the way they have the gaming tables all along one side. At the WV location, they have them all down the middle of the floor which cuts off access and makes everyone walk out of their way to get from one side to another.
I found quite a few new games, so that was nice. I don't know if it's the layout or what, but White Tanks appears to be a little more than half the size of WV.
Update - After my second visit, I've decided that I like the smaller format. It's not a giant trek to get from one place to another like at WV, and it's a lot harder to lose my friend. I can easily spot her just by a little wandering. At WV, we default to sending texts.
I didn't like the chairs at the slots. They are comfortable, but the don't move if you are in them. So no sitting down then trying to scoot up closer to the machine.
Update - A game I wanted to play had no chair because someone managed to drag it away to use while they watched someone else play. I was struggling to move it back (these suckers seriously do NOT slide on carpet) while a casino worker just watched me, then they used their hip and body weight to push in a different chair. Thanks, Dude, the 60 year-old didn't need your help.
Like WV, WT has free drink stations for fountain drinks. I like this feature and DD properties are the only ones in the valley that I've found doing this.
As far as actual gambling goes, I doubled what I brought, my friend lost everything, and as we were leaving, a very disgruntled woman behind us was telling everyone coming in to go home because "You can't win here. It just takes your money". Nobody listened.
Update - Geez, people were still complaining about tight slots. I didn't have this problem at all. I did lose all my money at a new game, which was my own fault because I started doing max bet, but then I won it all back at a new Buffalo game. I then peeled off 100 and spent the next 3 hours going up and down on Huff and Puff before losing that and leaving with my Buffalo winnings.
I will go back because there are still a few new games I want to try, but it definitely won't be my regular casino.
Update - I really, really like the new Huff and Puff Mansions. They need to get that at the...

So we had a bad experience during their grand opening and i obviously left a sour review, I had no plans of ever returning until I received an email from the owner wanting to earn my business back. He didnt make excuses and was more than willing to accept my decline should I not have wanted to entertain giving them a chance to give it another shot. We decided why not....this is the experience we were in pursuit of the first time. The server was INCREDIBLE, from the appetizers to the main dishes to the desserts were better than even my let down expectations could have warranted.
Hands down one of the best experiences I've had dining, this wasn't just a oh let's give them the moon type of situation I watched other tables and guaged the entire restaurant to see if it was operating at the level it should and it looks like they have the kinks ironed out. This is how you run a restaurant and I was beyond pleased with the outcome. If youre looking for a fine steak and great atmosphere this is your place. We will be back!!!
Thanks Tom, its safe to say we're "Friends" now.
Highly recommend!!!!!!
First off look at my profile, I do not give bad reviews but this experience forced my hand.
Buckle up it's bad.
First off the casino is a temu version of Desert diamond.
This is where is gets ugly.
Mortons steakhouse was the worst experience I have ever encountered. Ever. 45 minutes to get a drink and 2.5 hours to get our food. Every steak out of 6 was wrong all went back and one was not inedible due to the amount of salt. The sides were terrible even the mashed potatoes which takes effort to mess up were terrible.
The fact that they even sat us down to eat here knowing damn well they couldn't put out a dinner worth $20 let alone $250 is insulting.
If I could give negative stars there's be a -10.
Hands down worst experience in dining in my 41 years of being on...
Read moreI went with family at around 4 pm for the Grand Opening and it just seemed they were not prepared the right way. There was too many people, could not even walk without bumping into each other. We waited in line for one hour if not more waiting at the bar for one drink. There was only one bartender. Kudos to that guy he kept it moving and really tried to make everyone happy. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up in the hospital of exhaustion. We were exhausted waiting and watching him. That guy deserves a raise! And more help, plus everyone in line was confused why there was only one person handling a massive crowd. Went to the food court ended up getting a carne asada quesadilla and after a few bites I took outside because there was not one place to sit and eat, there was a bad hard piece of meat, so I put it in my car could not finish it after that. Plus having to go outside to try to eat was very uncomfortable. And if the air and ventilation was working we could not tell, it was very warm inside. I’m sure once all the hype passes they will get it right, but very disappointed in the Grand opening. Best thing I saved money by not being able to get on a machine and enjoyed my time talking with my daughter. For us it was just not a good night to play and have fun. Some tips: 1. Count the amount of people coming and going if you didn’t 2. Tables and chairs outside could of helped. 3. More help for food and drinks to move faster. 4. More friendly staff, it appeared everyone was overwhelmed, although there were a few super stars like Valet and people opening the door for you. There was a security guard I believe that really tried to answer your questions and help you out. Tonight for me an epic fail with the way it ran from 4 to 8:30pm that I was there but I’m sure it will work itself out. Good luck with getting...
