We stayed at the beachside of the #statepark campground for 4 nights in our 20 ft Airstream. The weather was lousy (rainy, cold December which may taint my review). There is the Live Oaks section and the beachside section where we were. Overall the sites were decent, some better than others. Our site, #69, was not very private, however, it was so close to the ocean we heard the waves crashing. We had some nice palms overhead. Across from us was the marsh, with lovely sites. The beach was close and of course quite beautiful. There are bike and walking trails throughout the campground. The Live Oaks section had many more trees and very private sites. The bathhouse wasn't bad on the beachside, but the Live Oaks bathhouse wasn't great. The bathhouse was heated which was awesome in the winter, and pretty clean. The showers were decent, with lots of hot water, but could have been a bit cleaner (see my pictures). The people staying there were very friendly which was a lot of fun. Nice camp store. One downside is it is out in the middle of nowhere, which may be a great thing for some, but there wasn't much to do nearby, and took forever to get there on small roads from Rt 95. Not sure I'd stay there again.

Beautiful campground on the beach. Initially stayed one night at Live Oak section until we realized there isn't alot to do on that side. Luckily, we were able to stay the remainder of our time at the campground on the beach. No paved sites, it gets a bit messy and sandy however the natural state of the campground is gorgeous. The trees and vegetation are so beautiful. My children loved finding seashells here! There are some gorgeous shells to be found as you explore down the beach. I don't think I would personally camp here in the summer months due to mosquitoes since you are surrounded by water from the marsh side. We also found over a dozen ticks throughout the week on us and our dogs regardless of the dogs being treated with their flea and tick medication from their vet. Be sure to grab some fresh seafood from Flowers Seafood a few miles down the road. We bought a bushel of oysters and roasted them at our campsite. So affordable and delicious!

It was a beautiful day to hike at Edisto State Park. There are four or five trails that you can walk. Today we chose to walk the trail that went through the marsh. It was beautiful there were three little foot bridges to walk across going through the marsh the scenery was gorgeous. And there are two or three benches along the way if you need to rest. This walk was recommended by the friendly ranger at the ranger station. My young adult sons and our dog dizzy all enjoyed the walk. It costs $8 a person to get in. Then we rode to the beach park and the admission covered that. This was a really nice area with picnic benches and easy access to the beach. I will definitely be going back to Edisto to walk the trails that I did not get to today. The bathroom facilities at the State Park were very nice as well and there was a little store where you could buy last minute items food drinks knick knacks.

Let me start by saying we booked for next year while we were still there. THAT is how much we enjoyed it. We stayed in a cabin on the marsh and it was perfect for the 2 of us. There was a great little pier right behind the cabin. The staff was great. Trails were well maintained. Road in and out was in good shape even after the rain. Beach at Campground was quiet and pretty much deserted. Just what we like in a beach. They were filming a movie while we were there but it did not take away from anything. If you are headed to a cabin you might want to pack a few blankets. Thankfully I don’t go anywhere without mine. There were 2 there but they were more like throws. Murphy bed was SURPRISINGLY comfortable. Paper towels are not furnished so throw some in with your groceries. Several great places to eat right down the road. All in all a GREAT TRIP.

Coastal Campground in Edisto, South Carolina. There’s two different campgrounds within the state park. One is called the live Oak campground. And one is the beach campground. I stayed in the live oak campground. I arrived well before check in time and they were very accommodating and let me go to my site. I was in site 93 which borders State Road 174 going into the beach. I would not recommend this location due to the constant traffic noise. You’d be better off in sites 112 to 125.All the sites are very shaded and there is a lot of privacy. The park offers an extensive hike/bike trail system. Be sure to ask for the little map showing the trails and the different sites along the way. There is also an environmental learning center that gives lectures on different topics throughout the week.

Great camping experience! Good weather, beautiful sunrises over the ocean and even more beautiful sunsets over the marshes. Beach is full of shells. We found some shark's teeth and sand dollars even seen a few dolphins. Tried fishing from the pier... no luck. We took a tour of the environmental center... very nice, lots of educational exhibits. Enjoyed hiking and biking the trails and boardwalks through and around the marshes, creeks and bays. Edisto Island is a very peaceful, laid back area. Some shops and and a few restaurants local to the island. They don't look like much but have great food and friendly people. First time camping in the beach section. Last time we were in the wooded area. Only drawback is the only dump station is near the wooded area. Long distance to dump gray water.
