We stayed at the beachside of the #statepark campground for 4 nights in our 20 ft Airstream. The weather was lousy (rainy, cold December which may taint my review). There is the Live Oaks section and the beachside section where we were. Overall the sites were decent, some better than others. Our site, #69, was not very private, however, it was so close to the ocean we heard the waves crashing. We had some nice palms overhead. Across from us was the marsh, with lovely sites. The beach was close and of course quite beautiful. There are bike and walking trails throughout the campground. The Live Oaks section had many more trees and very private sites. The bathhouse wasn't bad on the beachside, but the Live Oaks bathhouse wasn't great. The bathhouse was heated which was awesome in the winter, and pretty clean. The showers were decent, with lots of hot water, but could have been a bit cleaner (see my pictures). The people staying there were very friendly which was a lot of fun. Nice camp store. One downside is it is out in the middle of nowhere, which may be a great thing for some, but there wasn't much to do nearby, and took forever to get there on small roads from Rt 95. Not sure I'd stay there again.

Stayed here in April 2018. Originally I wanted a site at the Beach Campground but all the sites were taken for my week. Ended up booking site 120 at Live Oaks. When I arrived I was so glad I had to "settle" for Live Oaks. The beach campground sites were right on top of each other while the sites at Live Oak had more space between the sites. I would HIGHLY recommend sites 112 - 125 overlooking the salt marsh. Great views behind the sites with no neighbors behind you. These sites are very wide with lots of trees between them and being only 3/4 of a mile from the ocean yo could hear the waves. Sites 94 - 87 were very close to the street and seem to be loud from the traffic when we walked by them. All the walk in sites were amazing, if that's your thing. We have a 28 foot hybrid that fit nicely in the site. There is a nice camp store at Live Oaks and the shower house is also very nice. The thing I found most suprising was that there are signs trough out the park sating that alcohol is prohibited at all. The walking trails were also amazing and so peaceful. Site pics are from 80, 113, 118 and 2 from 120.

We LOVE Edisto Island. The slow pace, limited commercialization, and beautiful scenery. The beach is awesome, and we have tons of fun in the creeks and back waters with our 17' aluminum boat. Cruising, dolphin watching, oystering, and crabbing are all tons of fun. But, if you want to stay busy and entertained or keep the kids at the arcade or amusement park, forget it. Edisto doesn't have them, thank heavens. This is a place to slow down. If you come and like nature and history, be sure to check out Botney Bay. Take the hike to the beach. It is well worth it. You can almost see the Pirate Ships in the distance and Ole Blackbeard burying his booty. If you like to camp, check out the state park Live Oaks marsh side camp sites. But beware in the summer, the Flying Teeth will eat you alive. If you have ever been on an SC marsh at a summer sunset, you know about flying teeth or people eating Noseeums. Them suckers are vicious. Come in cool weather or bring bug spray by the gallon.

Beautiful campground on the beach. Initially stayed one night at Live Oak section until we realized there isn't alot to do on that side. Luckily, we were able to stay the remainder of our time at the campground on the beach. No paved sites, it gets a bit messy and sandy however the natural state of the campground is gorgeous. The trees and vegetation are so beautiful. My children loved finding seashells here! There are some gorgeous shells to be found as you explore down the beach. I don't think I would personally camp here in the summer months due to mosquitoes since you are surrounded by water from the marsh side. We also found over a dozen ticks throughout the week on us and our dogs regardless of the dogs being treated with their flea and tick medication from their vet. Be sure to grab some fresh seafood from Flowers Seafood a few miles down the road. We bought a bushel of oysters and roasted them at our campsite. So affordable and delicious!

It was a beautiful day to hike at Edisto State Park. There are four or five trails that you can walk. Today we chose to walk the trail that went through the marsh. It was beautiful there were three little foot bridges to walk across going through the marsh the scenery was gorgeous. And there are two or three benches along the way if you need to rest. This walk was recommended by the friendly ranger at the ranger station. My young adult sons and our dog dizzy all enjoyed the walk. It costs $8 a person to get in. Then we rode to the beach park and the admission covered that. This was a really nice area with picnic benches and easy access to the beach. I will definitely be going back to Edisto to walk the trails that I did not get to today. The bathroom facilities at the State Park were very nice as well and there was a little store where you could buy last minute items food drinks knick knacks.

Edisto was a very nice beach. Good place for finding seashells. There's a park office with an excellent gift shop as well as an education room. Nice restroom facilities. Shady areas with picnic tables are on the State Park property. Restaurants and a grocery store are nearby. The campground that borders the beach has many shaded or partially shaded campsites.
