Farm Island Recreation Area — Attraction in Contiguous United States

The campground is nice but I couldn’t enjoy it as I reserved a spot on the water and had the people across the street invite about 30 friends to come over and they all hung out on the water in front of my campsite. They had 3 cars parked on the grass on my campsite, a ton of lawn chairs, about 15 kids running around my site, they had coolers and a grill and just hung out on my campsite for 10 hours. I asked the campground host if they could maybe go down to the swim beach and the campground host told me they can park their cars on the grass where ever they want and they can walk through your site and be on your site all they want because it’s all public land. So I couldn’t have my dogs out because they would just bark at all the kids running around our site, we couldn’t even sit outside under our awning or have a fire as kids were running through there as well. It was awful and the campground hosts told us they weren’t breaking any rules because it’s all public land and if they want to walk and park on your site they can. Even though the rules specifically say you can not have a motor vehicle on anything other than a designated road or parking lot. It might be public land but have some respect for other people and don’t spend the day on someone else’s campsite!!! I have never seen anything like this in all the years I have been camping and I will never be back...

Beautiful place but may not be officially open for the season yet. That wasn't noted when we made reservations. Booked near the restrooms but they weren't open yet. Walk to other restroom was prohibitive for a personwith mobility issues. NO garbage cans in the park except as you left., that is very inconvenient when you have dog or food waste for several days and no vehicle. There was some loose garbage around but surprisingly little since receptacles weren't available. Garbage as you left was very stinky and fly infested. Making reservations was also difficult. Seemed like the park was very crowded but when we left there were only 8 campsites is use. There was a mistake in our reservation and when we called to extend they gave the impression our site wasn't available until we said there were a LOT of empty sites. The beach is nice, but the fact that dogs are not allowed in at the beach area it is really annoying. The personal needs more training about how to approach the visitor, I was at the swimming area with my dog and my daughter, then this young lady blond and purple hair came up tu me, yelling at me, and moving her arms like I was doing something I knew. It was my first time in this place and I didn't know their rules. Then I go to the office to asked for my refund I don't want to pay an annual pass to be in a place where they employees don't know how to treat people.and then there no way you get your money back. How come I had to leave and the guy next to was drinking beer in bottle and no body...
