I am surprised and a little sad to see anything but five-star reviews for this place, though the primary complaints resonate well. The drive in is a Fort Collins staple and it's an absolute delight each time I attend.
I'll admit I am absolutely biased when it comes to this, because I really want the drive in to prosper so that it continues to be a viable endeavor for the owners and we don't lose it in the community. That said, I cannot deny the issues they have with their concessions. It's a shame, because that's likely their primary source of revenue, but customers must choose between waiting in line for an hour (this is not an exaggeration; it's an approximation based on the fact that I've attended the drive in at least a half a dozen times each season since I've lived in Fort Collins) or watching the movie. When faced with that decision, most people simply sneak food and drinks in, which isn't doing the establishment any good. The issue seems to be two-fold: 1) lack of cash registers (only two!); and 2) lack of food prep. I don't think they have any food warmers, aside from a small one that holds corn dogs (delicious, by the way) and churros, therefore, burgers, fries, onion rings, funnel fries, etc. are all made-to-order, with limited space, so expect to wait for those items. Everything is truly delicious, though. :D
Helpful things to know: during the summer, arrive at least an hour in advance of dusk, as you'll be waiting in a long line of vehicles. Bring cash for the Box Office, as they don't accept cards (the concessions DO accept cards). It's been a little while, so maybe they accept them nowādouble check their website for sure! Admission is more than reasonable at only $7 a head for adults, and concession prices are also quite reasonable (no more than you'd pay in an indoor theater).
I take a boombox with me, equipped with batteries, if I plan to purchase concessions. This way, I can wait near the concessions at the tables and still watch the movie. :)
To address another recurring complaint on here, I'll be frank. Quit whining about obstructed views and a*hole people. Be adults. Talk to your neighbors. Ask others to tie down their hatches so they are flush with the tops of their vehicles. If someone is being difficult, lodge a formal complaint to staff. They will take care of it. However, if your primary course of action is to troll review sites and b$ch about it after the fact without trying to address the situation in the moment, then my only comment is your not savable. That also applies to the person complaining about smokers. Sits in blind rage complaining about smokers, but refuses to ask ANYONE to stop smoking or to inform staff while...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Holiday Twin Drive-In is a delightful throwback to a bygone era, offering an authentic and charming cinematic experience that is increasingly rare in todayās world of multiplexes and streaming services. From the moment you pull into the spacious lot, thereās an unmistakable sense of nostalgia paired with a warm, community-oriented atmosphere. This venue successfully balances the vintage charm of classic drive-in theaters with modern conveniences, creating a unique outing for families, couples, and film enthusiasts alike.
The double-screen setup is well-managed, allowing for a diverse selection of movies to be shown simultaneously, catering to varied tastes and age groups. Picture quality on both screens is surprisingly crisp for an outdoor venue, with sound delivered efficiently through well-maintained speaker systems or via FM radio broadcast directly to your car. This flexibility enhances the viewing experience, letting guests tailor their audio to personal preference without sacrificing clarity.
Concessions at the Holiday Twin Drive-In deserve special mention, as they offer a nostalgic menu that goes beyond the typical popcorn and soda. The staff is friendly and efficient, serving fresh, reasonably priced snacks that add to the overall enjoyment of the evening. While thereās room to expand the variety of offerings, the current selection is satisfying and well-prepared, making it easy to settle in for the show with all the classic treats.
One area for potential improvement is the facilityās infrastructure, which, while well-kept, could benefit from occasional updates to parking lot lighting and restroom amenities. These enhancements would further elevate comfort and safety without detracting from the authentic drive-in feel that makes the Holiday Twin so special. Nonetheless, the managementās evident dedication to upkeep ensures that the experience remains pleasant and accessible.
In summary, the Holiday Twin Drive-In offers a wonderful blend of nostalgia, entertainment, and community spirit that stands out as a must-visit destination. Itās a refreshing alternative to traditional movie theaters, perfect for anyone seeking a memorable night under the stars with quality films and a welcoming environment. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to relive the magic of the classic American drive-in or simply enjoy a unique and enjoyable...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe drive-in movie was always one of my favorite things about summer when I was growing up. I tried to share that experience with my grandson tonight but unfortunately had to leave due to a carload of uncivilized people that I parked in front of. They imediately started screaming at me and scared my 10 year old grandson. I had parked in the row security asked me to but 2 mins after I parked security showed up and asked me to move. I advised him that I was where I was supposed to be and he agreed and asked me to move anyways. I looked around and anywhere in the row that I was required to park also had people sitting in chairs behind their cars. I asked security which group of people I should inconvenience instead of the special people behind me. He told me that I was right and that I could stay where I was. A few minutes later a different security guy shows up and tells me that I'm blocking the people behind me and to move. The place is now getting full so I ask where I should move to. In this row of course, he answers. I don't think the 2 cars next to the special people would appreciate it if I moved in front of them and the only other spots left are on the ends where no one ever parks and I'm not moving there, I tell him. He says stay there. One minute goes by and he's back. Could you move your car backwards he asks. I inform him that I already attempted that and the special people started yelling. So I move back and security leaves. One minute later he tells me to just stay where I am but to get him if I have problems. He then infers that the lady behind is starting to get aggressive. By now my granson is beyond scared and there is no way I'm sticking around and see if we are about to be physically attacked. I left, they did offer a rain check which I picked up at the gate. I don't think I'll use that rain check unless its just adults in the car. Security should have dealt with the problem not the victim. Another wholesome family event that I guess is gone...
