My husband and fur kids loved this park. It was clean and there was so much to do. We hiked around the lake and checked out the disc golf course (which were nestled in the woods), we checked out the pet beach and dog park, and we camped for the weekend in their non-electric camp site. The camp site was nice because it's nestled in trees with ample shade, it's also away from the electric camp site so you don't have all the camper vans and RVs near you. The lake at this state park is so clean. Its a no wake lake so it's also very quiet. Next time we come we will be renting a cottage (which I think are also pet friendly.) There is a lovely golf course, nature preserve, boat rental place, archery and lots of equestrian, mountain bike and hiking trails. Unfortunately there isn't a ton of hiking specific trails but if you don't mind sharing it's enough for a weekend. There is plenty of other things to do like swimming, kayaking, golfing, disc golfing, archery, horse back riding and entertaining dogs to keep you nice and busy! We will be back!

The state park and the Lodge have been one of the pleasures and Mainstays of my life since I was a child. There is no place I would rather go to relax and get away from everything.
My wife and I are leaving this morning to spend a few days at one of the cabins that are available from the lodge...
Below is a photo of The View from the picture window of our Cottage; next is a picture of the couples Cottage where we stayed, the smallest of the available cabins.
Now we have finished our delightful visit and even though we came in November and the temperature reached 25 and windy our little cabin was as tight as a drum and no drafts. The amenities of the lodge are available to us without cost, swimming, free board games and DVD movies for us to watch.
Call the front desk for the best rates and specials. We received the seniors midweek discount since we are both over 55, so it was only $75 per night plus tax. I know that was a limited-time offer but I'm sure they will always have specials of one kind or another.

It is just absolutely FANTASTIC.....cannot complain about anything really! Except for a raccoon tore a huge hole in our brand new tent, ruined it, and ate our marshmallows!! But, there's not much you can do about it. You are pit there at your own risk, knowing you're around wild animals!! But, besides that mishap, this place is phenomenal! We found so many fossils at the creek, you couldn't carry them all! Caught tiny little minnow looking fish just with our hands and a net in the same creek. Plus, swam at the beach, took nature walks in their trails through the woods and camped in a tent as I mentioned. We also stayed in their lodge and the indoor and outdoor pool was awesome too!! Even if you don't stay all night at the park, Hueston Woods is a wonderful place to come to, without spending much money at all!! Just gas to get there, probably should pack a light lunch, and possibly leave in early evening around dinner time!! It's truly a GREAT PLACE to take your family without breaking the bank!

The Hueston Woods Lodge is a great place to go for a relaxing weekend or a few weeks of vacation. We spent 2 nights there in November. We spent quite a bit of time just relaxing in the lobby in front of the huge A frame window with a nice big fire behind us just reading or watching the Bald Eagles fly over the lake. There are some easy but interesting trails nearby as well as the disc golf course. In the summer there are two pools. The indoor pool is up to 9 feet deep.
There are plenty of things to do at the state park, in nearby Oxford or Cincinnati, which is only about an hour away.
We had lunch at the restaurant and spent $45 for 3 people. The food was good and the service was excellent. We got pizza for dinner and it was great.
The only drawbacks that I would mention is that there is no hot tub in the pool area and the TV options are some what limited, not that most people go for those things.

I had high Hope's, but they were quickly dashed. Unfortunately the lodge is under construction with new roof instalation and other improvements. The marina is closed so no time on the lake as we had wished. Food at the restraunts are just adequate with many menu items missing. The lodge is really run down, and in desperate need of improvenents. The room are shabby shiek, but are ok. If you spend most of your time on the lake or out in the park, you will be ok. No indoor pool as it sits empty, so no night swim, the main pool is open but limited capacity due to Covid. We are in a ADACompliant room, but handheld shower wand fairly works, toilet is low. No security to speak of, doors at the lodge rooms doesnt work, room key entry system doesnt work and no security cameras to speak of. Not the best, but peaceful place to get away.
