UPDATE Since posting this original review, we have had some less than stellar interactions. As a result, we left the club and have no desire to revisit this place. Most all of the non-family staff still worked hard to make visits nice, but on our last visit one of the owners sons who was working treated my daughter and grand child so rudely it was too much to deal with. It is still great wine, but due to arrogance and rudeness, I refuse to spend another dollar here. It is too bad, but after speaking g with the owner a few times, it is obvious that apples don't fall too far from trees. Unfortunately for us, it was just one step too far.....and yelling at a 2 year old and his mother, big mistake! Wrong customer on the wrong day for that piss ant to have an attitude, and he was addressed by us over it.
Old review below, prior to them forgetting customers pay the bills.
We joined their wine club about a year ago as a result of the excellent wine and Samaria's discussing with us the wines and knowledge on how they make it combined with a low pressure approach. We have always had incredible days there and from Levi (an incredibly friendly server) to Hannah who signed up up for the club and manages, everyone has always worked to make our experience fun. This last trip we were to be seated outside for lunch, they have awesome food and for me being gluten free, they provide a diverse menu. Erica our server (who really made us feel like she was hosting us in her own house she was so welcoming) arranged for us to move to a small private room called the library due to inclement weather. Her wine and food recommendations were on point. The cuvee is to die for, jolotage as always is a crowd pleaser, for me who likes bubbles, twinkles is amazing. We then tried carolus xii, a reserve blend of the top grapes from harvest. It was nothing short of incredible as flavor dances in your mouth and you are provided a smooth finish. For dinner Erica recommended for me risotto with mushrooms peas and asparagus and suggested a modification from chicken or shrimp to salmon. It was so amazing I ate without stopping making the rest of our party wonder if I even got food because I devoured it so quickly. Others tried one of their various flatbreads and the fourth in my party had iirc chicken parm. All amazing. After dinner we sat out in the sun as the weather had passed and took in the beauty of the property. It was a perfect day. Thank you to the excellent staff at Jolo who treats you as if you were family......the good parts of your family 😀. JOLO never disappoints! Lastly, these are employees who treated us at the highest level of service, but I do not want to short change the other staff, they are all special. You will be asked by many if they can assist with anything during your visit. You will come in as a customer and...
Read moreAs a recent member of JOLO Winery and Vineyards' Premier Club, I have had the pleasure of indulging in a series of exceptional experiences that have left an indelible mark on my palate and heart. From the moment I set foot on the grounds of this charming winery in Pilot Mountain, NC, I was captivated by the inviting atmosphere, attentive staff, and the exquisite combination of fine wines and delectable food.
Having joined only one wine club, and that being JOLO, I can confidently say that my decision has been rewarded with consistently impressive visits. On every occasion, whether as a guest or a member, the overall ambiance of JOLO has exceeded my expectations. The attention to detail in every aspect of the establishment is a testament to their commitment to providing an exceptional experience for their patrons.
When it comes to their wines, JOLO Winery truly stands out. While it's challenging to pick a favorite from their stellar collection, the Carolus XII has emerged as my preferred red, boasting a rich and robust flavor profile that never fails to impress. On the white side, the Golden Hallows Reserve has become my go-to choice, offering a delightful balance that embodies elegance and sophistication. The quality of JOLO's wines is so outstanding that every time I share them with friends or family at home, compliments flow, and inquiries about the source are inevitable.
The Cuvee experience at JOLO is a must-try for anyone seeking a culinary journey that perfectly complements their exceptional wines. The food and wine pairings curated by the talented team at JOLO are nothing short of exquisite, creating a symphony of flavors that dance on the palate. The Cuvee experience elevates the joy of wine tasting to new heights, making it a highlight of each visit.
A special mention must be made for the welcoming owner and host, JW. His genuine friendliness and hospitality create an atmosphere that feels like returning to a beloved home. It's evident that JW is passionate about his vineyard and takes pride in ensuring that every visitor feels like a cherished guest.
Furthermore, Levi, the knowledgeable guide through JOLO's wine offerings, deserves commendation for his ability to educate and engage, making the experience enjoyable for both wine aficionados and novices alike. Even if you're new to the world of wines, Levi's guidance ensures that you feel comfortable and informed throughout your visit.
In conclusion, JOLO Winery and Vineyards has become a cherished destination for me, a place where the love for wine is cultivated, and every visit feels like a celebration. As a Premier Club member, I wholeheartedly recommend JOLO to anyone seeking a wine and culinary experience that transcends the ordinary. Cheers to JOLO for consistently exceeding expectations and creating memorable moments that linger long after...
Read moreWe adore this place! The wine is great and atmosphere is beautiful… service is always kind and helpful! We come often enough, in pilot mt there isn’t anything higher quality then this place. You can walk around the winery, eat inside or outside! There is a bar and outdoor bar too with fireplace for cool nights. That have events and tastings too!
Parking is close and they have reserved as well…
(This is hopefully taken as some helpful criticism) Our complaint is that… this time I was here again for my birthday, and they were out of my go to beach bubbles for appetizer… but they were offering it in the mocktails instead cause it was an old vintage we were told- witch is understandable… but then they said well we have some but it’s only for the membership people rn… so they really do care about you being apart of the membership… I think… as well as I feel your seating isn’t the best either…and Im sure there are many perks for being a member, like reserved parking.. or for instance discounts…things like that, but for the average person who wouldn’t benefit from the membership (we get sooo much wine and beer from our jobs to try…so no need for a membership) but instead we spend on bottles when we’re there for the experience…
I feel like it would be nice if they have all areas for non members to enjoy too —- like example maybe on Friday and Saturday those areas are specifically for members only, and during the weekday…when it’s not busy that would be an area for guest to be able to sit and enjoy a different table spot for once …I’m kind of tired of sitting in the middle sandwich between other guests, of their outdoor dining spot every time… this is the 5x is the same spot —-especially with the sun shining in our eyes…. *sigh - a different time we sat inside next to the fireplace and it was sweltering. Even the other customers asked if we could open the side door. It was that hot in there! Maybe next time I’ll enjoy the bar area with an appetizer :/
The food is better than good, but it’s not better than Print works bistro or Ruth’s Chris steak… for instance I got the steak and au gratin and it really wasn’t that special they’re au gratin was not good at all. I did not finish it, sadly … and I added 2 scallops and that was by far better than my steak!
However I usually get their scallops because I know there are on point… and their risotto is very tasty. or their beef Bourgnon with the pilot Fog!! their appetizer crab dip is very good too! That’s what I suggest… they used to have truffle fries that were pretty good, but they don’t anymore and there was another appetizer. We used to get this other app that was amazing- cheese & prosciutto on bread but they don’t have that either.
Overall, it’s a wonderful place with a quality dining experience and view…we will be back im sure! Maybe I can mend my...
