Kootenai County Fairgrounds - North Idaho State Fair & Rodeo — Attraction in Hayden

The Fair is usually pretty nice, but this time I had a pretty disturbing experience with what I assume was a staff member, and I see other people in the reviews having troubles with rude staff members so it probably isn't just me. I was walking through the exhibits seeing the Art and Animals, at about 7:00PM I decided to walk through the ones for the Plants/Vegetables in the rooms connected to the big stands, I walked out the back door that leads to the seats and was immediately approached by a rude old woman who got up in my face and demanded I show her my "stamp". This had never happened in the past and I've been coming to the Fair every year for over a decade now so I had no idea what she meant by a "stamp". In the past I remember them stamping my hand at the entrance to the Fair, but this year they just tore off the top of my Ticket so I thought maybe she wanted that. So I pulled out my ticket to show her and she started complaining that "nobody is allowed in this area without a stamp" and turned me away without explaining anything about it or telling me where I could get a "stamp" (so apparently you need a stamp now to even look at what's going on in the arena now? ... huh?) she was had a pretty disturbing look on her face with a creepy pasted on smile and I was pretty shocked at being treated so rudely so I went the other way and left the building. As I exited the building I noticed she was staring at me with her creepy smile the whole time, a very unnerving and disturbing experience to say the least. Other than that the Fair was pretty fun with the usual exhibits of art, animals and rides, but the highlight of the night was being treated as a trespasser in an open public area with no signs, no warnings, and no...

I love this place and the people behind it!!! Walking around you can feel the history this place has and it makes me reflect on what this place has seen. Which is such a crazy juxtaposition given these buildings have some of if not the best WiFi in town delivered via fiber!! I cannot say enough about the staff here and the amount of time and effort that goes into making this happen! Big Shout out to Alexcia, Brittany, Cory, Michaela, Natalee and Allan for all the time you put in and still having such an awesome attitude even at the height of the season. This year is one of my favorites because there's an amazing western gun show occurring throughout the day and a crazy guy and gal on a huge umbrella clad bicycle, she's on stilts and both of them are reminding you how much fun life is and having an amazing time really bringing some new life to the fair this year! I also must say the plentiful food vendors are everywhere and the amount of different food selections to try are incredible as well as delicious! I always stop by the IFG tractor and train exhibit as well as small engine area and am always amazed at how these have stood the test of time with some love and care as well as the craziness of witnessing a gas powered washing machine, I could go on for days about all the cool stuff and rides etc! I do not recommend buying tickets for any of the area events, especially if you can't sit in the grandstand. They pack you in like sardines, with no more than 7-8 inches in between rows of seats. If you have a back row seat, you still get zero back because they have ridged metal lining the back. And because the rows are so close together, your shines will more than likely be resting against the bench in front of you, even if you are smaller person. You have to squeeze your body into uncomfortable positions in order to avoid hitting someone's back with your knees. The grandstand didn't look any better, and I could see that there were people sitting with their knees in other people's backs. Honestly this fair has no concern for neurodiverse people, considering that they make it to where you can't even get out of the bleachers, they literally have no stairway for anywhere but the actual grandstand. And I am basically being told that I can't even get a partial refund for the tickets. It is really irritating for someone like who has not only physical limitations and back pain, but is also neurodiverse, to not know what the seats are going to be like until your tickets are already scanned in, at which point you can't even sell them to someone else.
