Beautiful park and we lucked out with a beautiful day for our wedding here recently. We did a small ceremony on the first fishing dock (the only dock with wheelchair access for my grandmother). The lake was the perfect back drop... skies were clear, temps were mid 70s, nice breeze, fish were jumping, ducks were swimming. Keeping in mind that this is a public park, we were prepared to do the ceremony somewhere along the trail if the dock was too busy, but it worked out perfect. Friends got there early to tie a few balloons to help guests find the location. The one fisherman that was there was incredibly gracious and stepped away even though we didn't ask him to since he was on the opposite end of the dock. We were sure to gather our balloons and clean up after ourselves before leaving. The only thing that went wonky was when we tried to prepay parking for the 10 vehicles the day before - the park had nothing in place to be able to do that. Instead they asked that I distribute an event-identifying "pass" that the park would collect from the vehicles, then we would pay for those passes after the event. That would have been fine, except our ceremony was at noon and by 12:45ish when we were leaving, the entrance booth was closed! We even came back at 4:30 and they were now closed for the day. When we pre-arranged this, the guy would not take my phone number while taking notes of the event details and vehicle count, so the gal in the booth the day of tried to Google us and track us down afterwards to pay for the parking. As we were from out of state, we're sure a few unrelated people got some interesting phone calls. However we did come by the next morning and settle up (with the same gal). She was appreciative we came back, but I just can't imagine we are the only group to want to pay for our guests ahead of time. Seems like they would have something in place for large picnics and events. But regardless, the park was perfect, with ample parking, and just a short walk to the lake and first fishing dock. Restrooms were also conveniently located. Note that parking along Lake Chabot Road is free but in the park it's $5. Dogs are $2 each. Service animals are free with proper paperwork.
