Absolutely stellar hike up Mt Craig during our visit to MMSP! Stunning views and a picture-perfect trails lead to a breath-taking lookout. Perfect hike for anyone in the state park. Named after the Governor of North Carolina who helped establish the State Park here.

Summit is a moderate 2mi round trip hike from the Mt Mitchell overlook parking lot. It was peaceful, and gorgeous! I’m sure it will be spectacular when the rhododendrons are in bloom. One of these days, I’ll get my timing right.

Absolutely worth the hike from Mt.Mitchell. This hike shows you why the smokie mountain range is considered a temperate rain forest. Take a break at the top to take it all in and stay on the trail.

Great hike, but the trail could be maintained better. The plaque is not very prominent, but the views are great.
