Saturday, I went to the Farmers Market for a very special reason...pork rinds. Not your common bland pork rinds but Sandy Ridge Sweet Barbecue Pork Rinds. (My favorite). They have a hot variety, that might make you sweat and a couple of other flavors. But I gotta say that the Sweet Barbecue is... mmmm...mmmm...gooood!!!! I was told that they will be at this location all summer. And of all things, they are right near where Charlie Popper is at. The best Kettle Corn around. Popcorn and Pork Rinds. I think I've died and gone to heaven. OK, that an exaggeration but the flavors of both are downright the best!!!! Oh and I've got to admit that the attached picture of the pork rinds shows a not completely full bag of rinds (it was plumb full to the very top). I bought two bags of them and this is what's left of the 2nd bag. I couldn't take a picture of the kettle corn because I ate them before I could take the picture. Anyway, y'all get yourselves down to the Farmer's Market on Sandy Ridge Rd...but save me some of...
Read moreI have been at the Market for 7 years , l left the Market today October 19 due to the current so called Manager , he tried to remove my Certified Service Dog on October 8th , came into my booth yelling get that Dog out of here , he was shown her Credentials, Jo Jo had come to work with me for 7 years , Rick our prior Manager of 20 years never had a issue , he knew the Service Dog Laws . Daniel called Law Enforcement they were told by the Sergeant they could not remove my Service Dog , l had a couple Service Dogs in my booth the day he came in with his unprofessional behavior and ran them out of the building, my customers were embarrassed and humiliated, said they will not be back to the Market instead will be buying from our online store . Most of our customers have been contacted and are aware of what transpired on October 8th. It’s very sad that a Manager would treat his Vendors and customers in this manner. I am thankful for all my customers and look forward to serving you in the future from our...
Read moreWe live close by so we go fairly often. Today I purchased ears of corn from one of the vendors and discovered when shucked that the ears were worm-rotten all over and some misformed. I advise doing a partial shuck after buying and return if bad. I returned and got a refund then purchased a similar variety from another vendor, checking the ears before leaving.
Then I purchased a gallon of peaches from another vendor. I saw that a gallon was 10 large peaches. But a quart has 5-6 peaches. If you want twice as many peaches for the same price, buy 4 quarts (today 1 qt was $5 and a "gallon" $10).
Another frequent complaint is buying plants for our garden and discovering when they grow they are actually a different plant (looking very similar when young, especially some tomato plants). It may be a customer putting back a plant in the wrong place, so it's a good idea to confirm with the vendor (if the employee even knows...often no). I try to go to the same vendor each year vs. those that are...
