Rattlesnake Raceway — Attraction in Fallon

Probably one of the worse run tracks you'll come across. Facility is dirty, both in the grandstand area and in the pits. Overflowing garbage cans and trash everywhere. Track conditions are unreliable at best. During the season opener they had to suspend racing so a grader could come out and fix the track. Really?? The surface couldn't be ready for the first race of the season? Races NEVER start anywhere near on time. If the schedule says racing starts at 6, the drivers meeting might start somewhere closer to 7. The program seldom runs smoothly. Unreliable car count. No communications in the pits. Track staff cannot be found. Track "rules" are seldom followed. Unsupervised children running all over the pit area. Minimal lights in the pits. Many cars speeding through the pits in an effort to get back out on the track. All leading to a potential for accidents to happen. A older two wheeled drive tow truck that usually has more trouble getting itself unstuck than provides assistance to racers. Folks on little quads are a better bet. Not much better up in the grandstands. Ridiculously long lines for concessions. Filthy restroom facilities. Parking area for fans is unlighted, rocky, and never gets graded. Website has been abandoned in favor or a Facebook page that has minimal info and is seldom updated. If you don't want to join Facebook, you're pretty much out of luck. Good luck finding current race results, standings, pictures or even class/track rules. There are some really good people out at the track. Most of the staff are volunteers and are doing the best they can. The racers are cordial and willing to help competitors out. Racing is usually clean which is quite impressive considering how bad the track is. It is the track management that is substandard. At the end of the day, it's a clay/dirt/sand oval you can take your car out on and race. That's about it. Very disappointed that the handicapped seating area has been torn out and not replaced as I love to go with my husband to the races and it would be safer and more comfortable for me if it was there. It's close to the restrooms too, so that makes it even better for those of us who are handicapped. Also, no maintenance has been done to the regular grandstand seating which really needs serious help with nuts and bolts in securing them, for safety reasons. Awesome fast track when prepared good. The facility has seen better days for sure.. Price is right $10 per adult. Concession food is pretty good, just a little pricey imo. Just be prepared to sit all night long. This place never has ran a tight race program. Often watering frequently before races making it slippery for the ⅔ of the race.
