My great great uncle faught here in the Pennsylvania regiment. He was shot several times and taken POW by the confederates.He survived the war. I am very grateful that I was able to visit the place where his story took place. However I only wish that there was more recognition on the union side of the story in this battlefield. 80% of the battlefield focused on the efforts of the confederate army and their victory instead of the men like my ancestor who was a young US army volunteer and almost lost his life on this battlefield. My point is, Gettysburgh War Memorial honors the men of both armies, where this one mainly focuses on the confederate army. I just wish my ancestors story was better represented on this...

There were many informational signs and markers detailing the battle strategies and events in the Battle of Gaines’ Mill.
