Always clean. Nice view. Full handicap access. Drink and snack machines. Not manned, except for custodial duties. There are shaded picnic tables, which are well spaced so you don't bump elbows with others. Dogs (& cats, etc) are welcome with a walking area where they can relieve themselves. One drawback of the East bound area: the walk ups are very steep. The wheelchair access is also rather steep so it's a good idea to have another person who can help push you up. It's a long ramp. The 'regular' access is very, very steep and gives me trouble to walk up it without assistance. The large truck parking area is level with the building. If alone & using a non-powered wheelchair, you may want to park here. The West bound building is level with the parking area and has very good wheelchair access. Both buildings have 2 handicap stalls each. They are a bit of a squeeze for a wheelchair, however I believe they also have a special restroom that allows your partner to be with you. I've never gone in myself, so I'm not sure what they are like. These rooms are on the truck side of the buildings. Basically,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdated w/October Thorns! - Amaaaazing rock formations. The rock formations were a treat to see! We donāt use the facilities, so canāt comment on that, but the views were spectacular! One thing I noticed is that pet š owners are not picking up after their dogs. Shame on you!
Update October 2021: in June we were able to walk in and around the dog areas. Today, in October 2021, the grounds were covered in thorns! Star shaped thorns everywhere!! Dogs could not walk on anything but the hot sidewalks and even then, more thorns! Itās still beautiful but weāll be more mindful next time!
Update Jan. 2022: Docked 1 āļø. The trash/littering has gotten out of control! I see staff cleaning up, but maybe itās beyond their control⦠Lots of old truck tires and garbage bags piled up next to the trash bins. See new pics. Filthy!
Update Mar. 2023: 1 star added back. The stop was clean, staff friendly, sidewalks clear of debris. The rock formations never...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA very nice rest stop along I-10 East near Dragoon. There is one Westbound also, but we were going East. Everything worked and was clean and serviced. When a rest stop has this many vehicles at it including semi rigs, you know it must be nice. There is more than adequate parking, and picnic space, as well as room to exercise your leashed dog. Lots of interesting rock scenery; huge boulders, and smaller ones. All are fenced off, as this is most likely a rattlesnake haunt. Dogs and children should be watched. What bothered me about this place was the graffiti on the rocks. It's a real shame that some people have to deface beautiful natural things. A heat alert should be mentioned. This place gets intense sun and can get hot quickly. the rock...
