Stayed Aug 2021. We rolled in late, around midnight, hauling a small travel trailer and there was plenty of parking on the car side, so we parked there to stay out of the way of the many trucks. It was quiet and safe feeling. It got down to about 67, or about 72 in our trailer. No disturbances, and the morning sight of the sun hitting the rocks was gorgeous. Grass was kept and my family had fun taking photos of all the beautiful flowers. The signs and memorial here are very nicely done, and the bathrooms are clean, everything is well lit and there is a snack machine and 2 soda machines. It was a very convenient stop when we ran out of steam, and we felt very safe and quite enjoyed it..

1st time I've been able to stop after so many times I've been through the canyon. GOD'S creations are so beautiful. šŸ¤

Texas Canyon Ready Area is a fantastic spot to take a break during a long drive. The views are absolutely stunning, providing a much-needed dose of natural beauty to refresh your mind. It's more than just a place to stretch your legs; the picnic area invites you to enjoy a meal amidst the scenery, and the dedicated pet exercise area is a thoughtful touch for travelers with furry companions. This rest stop truly helps you recharge before getting back on the road.

The place is grilled. Well, for starters, the staff were great. They allowed me to use the electricity to charge my bicycle battery, and even a broom to sweep the thorns off the sidewalk which were en masse. That is where the story takes a left turn at Albequrqe. There were thousands and I mean tens of thousands of these little thorns that looked like they were placed there out of turn. There were no bushes anywhere around but these thorns which were all chopped up and ground except for the sticker part were everywhere. I literally (NO EXAGGERATION) pulled more than 50 out of my front, rear, and trailer tires on my bike ... causing me two flat tires instantly... I also pulled more than 40 out of the bottom of my shoes. I saw these poor dogs being taken for a walk and people in thin soled flip flops and warned them, but what can you do... Although the staff were nice and very helpful, I should have kept going and not...

DOG OWNERS BEWARE: The pet exercise area in this location is NOT properly maintained, it was full of stickers/thorns. I was trying to obey the areas where it has to walk the dogs. However, both my dogs, paws' we're covered in them. It took me about 10 minutes to pull them all out of their paws. I have stopped in rest stops all over the West and Southwest part of the US and is by far one of the worst states to stop in. The view at this rest stop is beautiful but not Worth a potential vet bill, especially...
