The Apex at Red Hawk Resort + Casino — Attraction in Cameron Park

This is definitely a hidden gem of El Dorado County.

We’ve stopped in to see the Apex when we’ve been at the casino and it’s always been SO busy. My son had a birthday party here a few months ago on a Saturday evening and it was (again) super busy and seemed almost chaotic.

We were here today to celebrate our son graduating . Today is a Tuesday and we arrived around 4:00 - 4:30. The place was empty and we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves…. Until the evening crowd started to come in.

Our family was the only ones on the karts which was amazing. We did an adult race and a junior race. Our youngest wasn’t tall enough to ride yet. The karts are really fun. I would definitely say I’d need more than one race to get the hang of it. We had the cameras on our helmets and the video is awesome to watch.

Bowling was really fun and it was our 4yr olds first time bowling. We ordered food and ate it while bowling. The fries were great and my son really liked the pepperoni pizza. I had the steak tacos, our oldest son had the birra flat bread and my husband had the wings.

If you get drinks, there are no refills- but the attendant told us to take the cups and fill them up in the casino (someone 21+ of course) because then you get free refills. 🥤

The virtual reality rollercoaster was a HIT for my family. I’m sure we will be back to ride every option that it has.

My tips: wear closed toed shoes for the go karts, bring your own socks for bowling (so you don’t have to buy some to go with the bowling shoes), also go on a weekday if you have a family and don’t want to feel all the chaos of crowds.

Holy cow. I thought I loved Red Hawk Casino before but the newest edition of The Apex took it to a whole new level.

What is Apex? It’s a whole new wing of the casino that’s available to all ages and contains the following: Indoor Go-Kart Racing (multi level), Interactive Bowling, Golf Simulators, VR Arcade, Grill and Sports Bar. This ain’t no arcade. It’s basically a full fledge tourist attraction.

They built this on top of the parking garage so when you enter from the garage elevators you just turn left instead right. Where a wall stood before it now a high tech entertainment center.

I will update my review with prices and packages at a later date when I have more information. They have group packages and specials during the weekdays. (All on the Red Hawk website.)

On a side note The Grill has a limited menu of everything from personal pizzas and garlic fries to fish and chips. The food is AMAZING. Been there twice later at night and each time the fries, personal pizzas and donut holes were fresh and yummy as could be. (The employees are all about helping you as well.)

Overall…bravo Red Hawk. I wish more businesses would think to do things like this for the...

Horrible customer service and inedible chicken wings. So disappointed. We had a great day at Apple Hill and decided to stop at Red Hawk Casino on the way home to race cars with all the "kids" who are now young adults and we don't get a lot of time with. The whole family, from ages 15-92 were present. Unfortunately, it was going to be a few hours before we could race. All 12 racers paid for a 8:50pm time slot, and then Apex staff decided to boot us to a half hour later. I gave a 20% tip to the cashier because my 8:50 pm time slot was reserved while we got the party of 12 all registered and ready to sign-up. They don't care about their customers. Don't come here! You'll be dissatisfied and disappointed like us. 6 families all know now we don't matter. I hope it's not because we're BIPOC!
