Welcome to the haunted straw maze!! Comment for Pt. 2 #fypシ #haunted #byui #rexburgidaho #blowthisup @Big_tripleB32

This was a great time, even for us older folks! First, I have to say that it depends on when you go. We tried a Friday night around 8:45pm and left at 10pm after only moving 20' in line for the Haunted Forest (we estimated having another 2-3 hr wait until we were at the entrance!) and heard others say that the Haunted Maze line also was not moving. We left without experiencing anything but the wait and tried again Saturday around 7:45pm, that was much better! We already had our tickets from the night before and went straight in, started in line for the maze, and only had to wait 35 minutes before we got in. It took us 40 minutes to make it through the maze and I must say, it was a good time! You run into 'spooks' (they can't touch you), twists, turns, strobe lights, a random hidden bus, and finally find your way out... or you can take one of the emergency exits. The Maze was really great actually, it had us stumped! Then we got in line for the Haunted Forest and that line took us about 45 minutes to wait before we were allowed in. We realized a lot of people were "skipping the line" - they had purchased VIP tickets - might be worth it if you don't want to stand in line. Once we got in, it took us about 30-40 minutes to walk through. There is a corn field, lights, spooks, woods, scary stuff, oh my... A lot of fun!! Then a fun surprise ride back at the end that you have to experience for yourself, I don't want to ruin the fun for ya! If you like Halloween and doing spooky stuff in October, this is a must! We met people from several hours away who traveled up just for the Haunted Maze.

The person selling tickets at the entrance said the maze would only take about 45 minutes. My dad and my step mom entered with me and my sister. We split up to see who could get out first. My dad made it out in 1 1/2 hours. We took the emergency exit after 2 1/2 hours. The people in or on the maze don't give any instructions, but they were pretty scary. They always tell you the wrong way. I guess that adds to the challenge of a giant straw maze, but I have asthma and my sister has bad knees. We wanted to finish the maze and eat French fries at the food trucks outside the maze, which were really good btw⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Overall, I didn't like the maze, but the tractor tires, slides, and food trucks were great. I didn't go through the forest, but it is one path filled with jump scares. I'm sure that one doesn't take 2 1/2 hours to finish.

The maze is always good, but the assistant manager, general manager, and owner were extremely rude and unprofessional when. I confronted them about a rude employee, calling me a 5 year old and telling me to be an adult and grow up. They said we shouldn't have even gone to the maze if we dressed up for Halloween at all, even though security told us it was okay and the ticket booth. No refund. No respect. Just disregard and disrespect. Will never attend or recommend this place again after being a fan for years. Extremely disappointed in the management. Very rude and uncaring. Not worth the $18 spent when all I wanted was an apology from the rude staff who were literally laughing in my face and calling me childish for being offended for how they treated me and my fiance. Do not attend. Horrible customer service. UPDATE: The second owner called me at 9:30am this morning November 1st of 2015. He immediately told me I was lying about my whole story and that his people offered me refunds. They did NOT. He told me I was lying about the man laughing in my face. He told me I was lying about a security guard who LITERALLY TOLD US we could scare people as long as we didn't break character. He told me I was lying about my whole story. And it's so frustrating to have someone call you, and have them call you a liar. He would not let me speak. He kept overpowering my voice. He laughed at me on the phone and kept saying that I was a liar who was offered a refund at the maze multiple times. I WAS NEVER OFFERED A REFUND. When he called me on the phone, he offered a refund, which I accepted, BUT HE NEVER GAVE. He ended up hanging up on me because I was defending myself telling him I wasn't lying. Never got a refund. Never got to tell my side of the story. Was called a liar. Was laughed at. Was told not to come to the maze if I was dressed up as much as I was. Was told that people with anxiety and depression shouldn't belong in a place like that, especially if they have to take medication because who knows what could happen. Was EXTREMELY disappointed and will NEVER recommend or attend this place. The total people I talked to: TWO managers, and the TWO owners. The fact that these people would be so mean and ruthless and not understanding in the SLIGHTEST is beyond me. They said I could have a refund. Where is my $18 then? Most of all, and forget the refund, give me a respectful apology. I LITERALLY CANNOT COUNT THE AMOUNT OF TIMES I WAS LAUGHED IN THE FACE FOR WANTING RESPECT AND UNDERSTANDING. I was told COUNTLESS times I was lying, and they told me to "Grow up, be a man, and walk out of here. You are acting like a 5 year old." NEVER OFFERED A REFUND AT THE MAZE, but the managers and other owner told the main owner who I spoke with on the phone that they DID offer the refund. SO many lies in this company that I am disgusted. I know they deal with 15 year olds who smoke in the maze or try to climb on top or crazy people who come through with guns and start scaring people. But dressing up and being told we shouldn't be here if we are dressed up THAT MUCH and also have anxiety?? Really? Talk about degrading and extremely unprofessional. And just plain rude. My anger is so incredible that I can't even put it into words. One of the most disappointing things is that the owners and managers took out THEIR anger on US just because they had to kick people out and had a rough night. Learn how to channel your anger, not force it on others. Not only are they unprofessional, but basically inhuman. Anger towards others because of something that wasn't my fault is so ridiculous and frowned upon. They're mad about my 1 star review on Facebook? They MORE than deserve a negative review. Calmed down after the incident last night only to be woken up this morning by a man yelling at me over the phone, calling me a liar multiple times. What a bunch of unprofessional people and what a lousy business. No longer a fan. Do not recommend at all. Never will. Not worth the $18 they still owe me...

This was a really cool place and me and my friends had a lot of un when we went. I figured that it might be helpful to leave feedback on some things that could be improved. Like I said, I had a good experience and these are some things that could make the experience just a little better.

While in the haunted straw maze, there were a few times when characters definitely crossed boundaries. We were given VERY CLEAR instructions on how to treat the actors and the appropriate way to interact with them. However, some of the actors did not follow the same guidelines. I got the vibe that if anything were to happen, they would take the side of the actors, not the visitors which could create some larger problems overall. One example of this was when a girl in our group was overstimulated and needed a minute to breathe so we stopped to take a break. A kid in a Mike Myers mask followed us and pushed past the rest of the group to get to her because he could see she was scared. 3 grown men stepped around this girl and he still tried to weasel past us just to get close. In an attempt to keep him away we tried to place our bodies so he wouldn’t get around us. Even then he crossed some serious boundaries just to get in this girls face... literally. It was obvious we didn’t want him there at that moment and we told him to back off (as politely as we could muster) a couple of times and he finally caught the hint. My suggestion would be to teach the actors not to prey on people so much. I understand the fear factor, but respect and boundaries are still important. I also witnessed this with another family who had a young daughter in tears and the actors didn’t move, help, or give the family space to get to the exit. One just kept standing there and I had to shoo her away.

I would recommend adding lights to the straw maze. The only sources of light were blinding strobes that were not helpful at all. We were told we could use our phones as a flashlight but then people got frustrated “because it was in their eyes.” Having something like an LED strip throughout the maze would add to the atmosphere as well as keep people safe from running into things. I feel like this would help because then everyone could do what they went there to do. While the dark is fun, going in circles and running into the same 3 people got really old really fast. We had to turn on the flashlights just to see where we were going and stay oriented.

My last recommendation would be to create a story. My friends and I weren’t particularly scared by 12 year olds in potato sacks so we started interacting and asking questions. What made the experience 100x better was when the actors had a story to tell and it was even better when we ran across actors who were in on the same bit. They got to jump scare us and we got to further the plot. (Shoutout the actors Joy, Sprinkles, Crow, and the kid in the straight jacket. Yall UNDERSTOOD the assignment.)

Gosh I sound like such a Karen but I swear I had a...
