Visiting Woldhuis Farms Sunrise Greenhouse in Grant Park, Illinois, was a delightful experience for my wife and me. As avid gardeners, we were eager to explore their extensive selection, and we were not disappointed.
The greenhouse is impressively vast, encompassing 9 acres under roof, making it the largest in the Chicagoland area. Navigating through the well-organized aisles, we found a diverse array of plants, from annuals and perennials to shrubs and trees. The facility even provides maps to help visitors find specific sections, which was incredibly helpful given the size of the greenhouse.
Our primary goal was to purchase roses and seeds, and Woldhuis Farms did not disappoint. They offer over 100 varieties of rose bushes, including David Austin, Knock Out, grandiflora, and floribunda roses. The quality of the roses was exceptional, and we appreciated the 14-month guarantee they provide on their roses, shrubs, and trees.
In addition to roses, we explored their selection of seeds and were impressed by the variety available. The staff was knowledgeable and eager to assist, providing valuable advice on planting and care. Their passion for gardening was evident and added to the overall positive experience.
While some items were priced slightly higher than other nurseries, the quality and variety justified the cost. Moreover, the overall ambiance and the sheer joy of exploring such a comprehensive gardening center made it worthwhile. We also noticed they had seasonal sales and coupons, which we plan to take advantage of during our next visit.
Overall, our visit to Woldhuis Farms Sunrise Greenhouse was a memorable one. We left with a car full of roses and seeds, excited to enhance our garden. For anyone passionate about gardening, this greenhouse is a must-visit...
Read morePrepare to be amazed by the size of this place! With acres and acres of colorful flowers and hanging baskets, this is a great place to shop for whatever you need to make your yard beautiful. They carry a variety of trees, shrubs and grasses for your large landscaping plans. There are benches, chairs, trellises, huge planters, shepherd hooks, and many types of ornamental items to suit a variety of tastes. Annuals, vegetables and perennials, large and small pots, bird seeds and feeders, fertilizers and weed treatments, and much more, make this the place to go for your gardening needs. There are restrooms and water fountains, and on occasion they have snacks. The only downfalls are that the prices are a little high on some of the decorative items, and the plant varieties are sometimes limited. (For example, I was looking for double-hollyhocks but they only had single this year.) They do carry beautiful ready-made planters and hanging baskets so if you don't want the mess of planting your own pots you will certainly find something you love for your own yard or to give as a gift. The staff is also very friendly and knowledgeable, so whatever you need, or need to know, just ask and they will be...
Read moreThis years update. Bought tomatos at Lowe's this year, and they're growing nicey. The hanging plants are a different story. Seems they planted differently and not enough drainage. Ones dying rapidly. Pictures below. Im slowly starting to buy my plants at other greenhouses because your quality has dropped and prices increase. Check your employees' work. It's sad the price you pay for poor quality. These were mothers day gifts.
We have bought every year from Woldhuis for 8 years. This year price increased... dramatically. We were fine with and still purchased about 600 dollars. Some vegetable peppers, tomatoes, etc, have been less than desirable. We bought a couple of plants from Lowes. Completely better growth etc same dirt, watering sun etc. The baskets and planters we bought were put together with less quality and much smaller with less foliage. Some of the baskets and planters some just died. They look empty and sad. We used to love you guys. Always a great experience. But higher prices should include less product or...
