This park exceeded my expectations the first time and continues to do so. There are many trails, activities and camping. I prefer hiking the north end where you can see a lot of trees being worked on by beavers as well as beautiful stands of pine with pine needles covering the trail. Other hiking portions on the west side offer great views of the lake. The east side is a little more tricky with nice boardwalks but the road can be busy. Portions of the south and Scarce ‘O Fat trail can be hard to follow. If you drive your vehicle to park near the spillway, please be mindful of the creek crossing and/or high water. I’ve had to pull people out once when they got stuck. I hate to say this, but watch for snakes in the boggy areas. It’s their home but I did run into an aggressive one once out of the 5 times I’ve been (see last pic).

Went camping with my girlfriend at Yellowwood State Forest Park and it was amazing! The park is beautiful and the campgrounds are very nice, quiet and serene. We pitched our tent and had a nice BBQ and campfire. Our stay was a great deal of fun and we'll be back soon!

SPECIFICALLY the Scarce O Fat and High King Trails. Has a great overlook peak WITH A BENCH😜Usually several hikers and runners on the trail, depending on the day. But still has a good "self reflecting feel" to it. Some challenging places that will "test your mettle" and see what you're made of. I typically do NOT start with the High King entrance because it is too rugged and steep to start out with! I need something more gradual😊🍂🍁Most of the beautiful leaves were blown away with the wind yesterday. Some of these pictures were taken a couple of weeks ago! While the leaves were still attached to the trees! It was def MUCH harder to navigate the trail today. Parking is good with at least 3 different spots close to the trails. I was asked if i feel safe on this trail. Absolutely!❤️ Happy hiking y'all🎵🎶👩‍🦯👣

This place has comparable features/topography to other surrounding natural areas, but the best part is that the volume of visitors is well below the volume of surrounding areas. This is ideal for birding/tranquility because you are less likely to be disturbed loud & disrespectful "hikers". Unfortunately, state logging operations have been increasing within Yellowwod and clear cutting seems to be the preferred logging method.

Multiflora rose (rosa multiflora) is widespread and seems to be getting worse this growing season. I'm guessing this is likely due to the increase in logging operations as well as the early arrival of spring. Multiflora rose has been able to start growing well before native plants and sadly, you can see the invasive plant aggressively outgrowing and out competing native species. Would be nice to see the State Forestry Dept. be more aggressive in managing the threat that the invasive species pose to the biodiversity at...

Nice lake in beautiful Brown County near Nashville, Indiana. Recently a few years back the lake has been drained and most of the lake dredged especially the upper end. Supposedly restocked with bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish and also trout. When lake was drained I witnessed thousands of dead fish in the creek below the dam. Haven’t personally had much luck fishing since it was restocked.

Quiet medium sized lake for fishing with trolling motors, recreation such as canoeing and kayaking but no gas motors allowed. Many primitive tent camping sites available for a fee. Hiking trails around lake, small playground for kids, shelter house available for rent, small country store with very limited bait and supplies, canoe rentals available, concrete boat launch but NO SWIMMING allowed by DNR.

Gravel roads to the lake have recently been paved. Logging and bridge work still going on...

I recommend this for an easy camping experience with fishing, hiking, and horse trails/camp available.

Good camping sites for tents, small trailers, and a horse camp. Boat ramp for small fishing boats (check website for restrictions) and rowboats available for rent. Fish cleaning station also available along with picnic sites. Vault toilets exist around camping spots. Office is only open certain days of the week but self registration/payment is available.

**Note: Hwy 46 runs East/West south of the park and if coming from there I recommend taking Yellowwood Rd. to Yellowwood Lake Rd. as opposed to Jackson Creek Rd. to Yellowwood Lake Rd.

*In regards to the review that said this isn't where Google Maps said it was, it seems the issue was corrected (the review was 4+ years ago, so it's understandable). I have camped here several times and it has been easy to find...
