Beautiful lookout. We enjoyed the walking trails! There was plenty of picnic tables and it seemed well kept. First time visiting. Will be back!

Great wooded trails in a manageable park. We visited early on a weekday and had the entire park to ourselves. We had a great walk before the sun was high despite the excessive heat warning to take effect later.

The park attracts a lot of mountain bicycle riders, and sadly there's no map and often no delineation of the walking versus bike trails. It seems that the numbered colored marks are generally for bikes and the silver vertical rectangular marks are for foot traffic. I believe there are multiple foot trails from the time years ago when the park was operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Unfortunately vandalism along the river edge of the park (broken fencing and graffiti) underscores that responsible adults need to closely monitor juveniles and their own path lest they damage the park further and/or slip and fall towards the river.

If you need a place for socially distant picnicking, there are a couple of sizable pavilions and maybe a dozen or twenty picnic tables and grills. The park also has some restrooms but we didn't go in so I don't know if...

I didn't know that so much history was this close to home. Beautiful! The actual owner of the buildings donated we met. She invited us into her beautiful historic plantation! That was quite the surprise! She has so much history in her. I told her this information needs to be in a book. She has experienced so much in her life. The donation of the buildings and property that an actual civil war battle occurred is amazing. They set it up in a town form. These are all the buildings that would be found on a plantation and town, not that long ago. Very...

As someone who was visiting Cadron Settlement Park for the first time, I cannot wait easily say that this place is a hidden gem in the United States. This gorgeous land and terrain is not only beautiful but carries a deep and powerful historical importance. I only had the opportunity to hike with my family but I am looking forward to experiencing it with my mountain bike. Also, everyone we encountered on the trail were friendly, helpful, and made the experience even better (if that’s...
