A truly wonderful trail. Go in the cooler months to minimize the risk of snakes and get a less obstructed view.
Long way to the overlook- from the trail head go right over the stream along the Appalachian trail (white blaze) and turn onto the blue blazes - should be a sign. It is definitely easier and less steep but will take a few hours.

Read moreABSOLUTELY worth the trip. The hike to the top will be steep if you don’t hike much- bring good shoes. The views from the top go very far and it’s a good place to watch for birds. The rock formations along the ridge are also pretty unique. Toms Run (by the parking lot) is a nice touch as well. Would come again....
