Tobyhanna State Park — Attraction in Coolbaugh Township

Tobyhanna is a great place to go to. It’s my go-to state park by me. The only reason I am now giving it 4 starts instead of 5 is because despite the fact that I know it would be wildlife, it creeped me tf out seeing two bears just so close to the lake and along the trail. I was feet away and obviously the TWO black bears were minding their “bear business” but it’s the fact for me!!! Just saying! I have a two year old that I like to take with me in his jogging stroller, so idk just be on the look out and keep your distance if you see one. We came to kayak. Nice, relaxing paddle! The boat launch is easily accessible for both trucks with trailers (make sure you have an electric motor) and for vehicles with roof racks. Easy to put our boats in/out even with a 6yo. They also have rentals. I have also been here to swim at the beach. The geese tend to leave a little bit of a mess and there's a bit of algae but it is a nice place to meet friends with kids for picnic (there are picnic tables), swim, playground fun. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE!!! no joke this place deserves more than five stars 🤩 a great place to go no matter the season nor weather you can walk run and or just frolic lol we saw two different Bever dams no bevers unfortunately but we did see lots of evidence of them being there. I love the way that they cut down the trees sometimes they leave some of the bigger ones like they got tired I like to think when they're gnawing off the bark they're saying things like this bark is out of season lol. so cute definitely macarendas...
