Wanted to make homemade Tomato Soup on August 27, 2015. I called Russell Farms and askd one very specific question "Are your tomatoes homegrown on your farm?" The gentleman that answered the phone said "Yes." Battled through town traffic, got caught by a train and then construction on Riverview which he did not bother to tell me about. Got to the farm and I could immediately tell the tomatoes were not grown on his farm as they were cold and I mean cooler cold which impedes the tomato flavor.
When I mentioned this to the lady waiting on me, she waved her hands and said "There is no room to grow them here," She went on to say, they are homegrown but just not there. On top of that she was bitter at having lost her job and proceeded to complain to me about that. I was not happy with the stock they had but on an up note, the lady did go through each basket so I could find riper tomatoes to try and salvage my trip.
Needless to say, Russell Farms will not be a business I will return to. I hate being lied to when a very specific...
