This is a pretty awesome State Park. There's a variety of areas that you can actually visit. The State Park itself is where the beach is at and it has a variety of picnic tables as well as fire pits even and a restroom. But further up along the drive, there's actually a few different viewpoints where depending on the day and the time you can find people at telescopes who are watching sea lions, otters and other variety of sea lions creatures. It's incredible to see the amount of sea lions that were there. I was amazed to see that many. Further up along the drive you'll reach the end point which is a huge scenic area. As you can see from some of the pictures that I uploaded, there's quite a few here. There's a nice walking area around to look at that lets you really capture in the breath of God's creation there. Honestly, if I'm ever in the area I will come back here again as it's an easily accessible Beach wasn't too crowded and has some great views over the next time I come though it won't...

The northern tip has a great view of shell rock off of simpson reef where most of the local seals laze about and you can always hear their calls in the distance. Tucked away to the side is the north cove, a small beach that is closed part of the year for seal pupping season. Overlooking the western cliffs is a platform that makes a great spot for whale watching but be careful on windy days or you just may lose your hat. To the south there is cooks cove another small beach great for seekers of tide pools as well as a stunning view of the coastal cliffs straight down to bandon. A trail to an upper picnic area and hiking in the woods rounds out the cape arago experience those able enough and willing to look can find wwii bunkers in the hills above the picnic area. Come and visit but make sure to watch a sunset and...
Read moreCape Arago is a hidden gem! Seriously, I’m torn over giving it the glowing review it deserves or keeping it a secret for myself and other locals! It’s hardly ever crowded with tourists, but the sweeping ocean views are spectacular. It’s worth the detour off the 101 for sure, not just for it specifically, but for the stops along the way as well. If you have the time, there’s a short paved trail to a viewpoint of the seals and sea lions that is simply incredible. They have bathrooms but they’ve been closed everytime I’ve gone there, however there are flush toilets at sunset beach which is not far away on the same road. Most of the views are accessible however the sea Lion tail would be difficult to navigate a wheelchair due to the steep dips and bumpy old pavement. There are some really lovely picnic table spots right at the cliffs edge where you can listen to the barking of the seals and the crashing...
