If you love the creek of old floors and seeing history first hand this is the place to go. The view from the house is so beautiful and the house itself was fun to walk through. I don’t think there is enough to look at to consider driving a long distance to go see but if you are in the area I’d go. After all it’s free and the volunteers are so kind. After you see the house there is a trail down below that takes you to the ocean. It’s a bit of a walk but it’s beautiful...

Beautiful home, recreated to look as it did back in the turn of the 20th century -- Too bad not much is known about the home, as everything is a guess as to how it was decorated, who slept in which room and what color everything was -- Access is a little treacherous for an RV as we parked in the turnout a few hundred yards away but it was manageable -- Daughter found a praying mantis just outside on the porch and the site is majestic with views of the Sixes River and...

What a neat spot. It's a bit of a drive from the main road but worth the history. The people that volunteer inside give a great little tour and fun historical facts about the Hughes family. I felt such a presence at the top of the stairs. I bet there's a lot of that around. The property is breathtaking. There is a Porta potty toilet nearby if needed. Google it for hours of operation before taking the time to drive down to it. It is free with a...

This is one of over 30 historic properties in Oregon and was built by Patrick Hughes and his wife Jane who came to the states from Ireland. I visited on 4th of July and it was open and staffed by two volunteer women who gave me a free tour and shared much history about this family. It this is something you’re interested in, I would recommend going on a day they are open for tours (I think Monday thru Wednesday).
