We rented a houseboat here for 5 days... The rates for 5 days slightly off season here are great (M-F) that being said you lose a lot of Mon and a lot of Fri. We got the 6 bedroom houseboats and split it 6 ways and then the gas costs as well. We moved the boat once each day or 2 to make sure we could kayak fresh areas (we had our kayaks on top deck)
They had a water slide on the boat and full kitchen and propane grill... The oven didn't work so hot I wouldn't count on using the Oven... Stove top was ok but took longer to get hot than I'm used to... You have to keep in mind this stuff is running off of batteries/generator. IMHO focus on the grill as that is more suitable for being in the outdoors anyway.
This thing had a TV but we didn't use it... Kitchen has all the pots and pans etc.
The beds are "queen-size" and you need your own sheets... I suggest king size sheets as queen size didn't fit for us... You can always tuck excess. The pillows and mattress are vinyl it's a high humidity environment and mold could be a problem so they kinda need to do this but what I suggest is to also bring a regular pillow 5 days will not hurt it.
Make sure to take notes about how to run the generator etc...
I really really really recommend renting a John boat to tie to the side as it makes ice runs faster and cheaper... It also allows you to tie up easier (run the ropes to shore with the boat rather than swim) and the additional cost was ridiculously low.
Toilets aren't supposed to have TP in them... (Yuck). You get used to it quick but you need to have a game plan as a coping mechanism so we replaced the small kitchen bags every day with...
Read moreIf you plan to rent a double decker with the slide, then make sure that you have someone on the boat that either has a verison cell service or a walkie talkie with similar frequency that the rental office has. Otherwise, you may end on the similar adventure that we got in yesterday - the pantoon battery died, no phone connection, and nobody around. The pantoon is equipped only with one (!) paddle. We had several kids with us, the little one was surely scared. The adults and teenagers had to become a "man power" in the water to slowly move the vessel towards the main water. One of the adults was sitting in front paddling. It took us a least one hour before we made it to the point where we could make a phone call using internet connection. 5 min on hold from the office, then another 15 min to finally see the rescue boat. When arrived to the office, I was told to pay the full price because (direct quote) " you used the slide the whole day that was the reason for the battery to die". My objections that we were using the slide with water pump only intermittently did not change anything. I gave two stars to account for the nature at the lake, which is gorgeous, otherwise, I would give the lowest possible rating for the service and response I...
Read moreI just want to inform everyone that if you are going to rent a pontoon boat from these people, you had better ask about the condition of the boat before you do so. Our rental was in such bad shape that they did switch boats for us, but the next one was no better. No Horn on either boat. Radio stereo did not work on either boat. Could not run at full throttle, went back to marina and found this out, Response was that none of them would go full throttle, they could not solve the problem, although they rented the boat without informing us of this. This was their pontoons with slides. The bench seat was loose and unsecured on the second boat due to rotted floor. The response given to us about the horn was, well the patrol boats will not be out today on the lake, its Sunday . End of story, we paid almost 500 dollars for this adventure which was just a pure rip-off by the Marina. Another answer given to us was, Management is...
