This was my first, and perhaps last, time visiting this beach.
There is a nice playground and two areas for playing volleyball, a good amount of parking, and lots of picnic tables in the shade.
Wright County could really do itself a favor and clean up the swimming area.
While there are some things that can't be helped, such as ag runoff and snails, there are others that can.
The beach needs to be combed, as there are piles of weeds and sharp rocks on the shoreline, sharp rocks in the swimming area, clumps of moss, and trash in the sand. If you're going to swim here, wear something that covers your entire foot like old tennis shoes or water socks; otherwise, those rocks will get into your shoes.
Set up shop far AWAY from the purple martin houses. We had a near miss in the water and a direct hit on the beach. Gross.

Daily and seasonal permits are available at the office. The grounds and facilities are well maintained. Cedar lake itself is fun for floating and recreation but not so much for fishing. Read moreThe lake, beach, and play park are very nice. However, the campsites are extremely crowded and close together. They don't even have good places for a large tent on some of the sites. There were also probably more vehicles there then there were campers! The mosquitoes weren't terrible if you apply bug spray. There also weren't too many trees, and only one short hiking trail through the woods. The showers weren't great either. So it was okay, but we wouldn't go back unless we had the spots right...
