I wish that it were possible to give a five-star review for The Artful Barn, but a one-star review for The Games Alliance, the tabletop store downstairs. Unfortunately, the owner of the latter is more than negative enough to make up for how courteous the folks in the former are.
As for The Games Alliance: Most of the customers are great, but the ownership is rude, terse, and uncooperative with customers trying to run their own events. As a result, if you would like to play Magic: the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, or most other card games, then you'll have a tough time finding enough players, as the owner doesn't foster the communities for those games, or really allow them to use the space to foster. Actually, aside from a small 40K scene and an even smaller Dragonball Super… couple of people, there really isn't much there to play. The prices are also a bit high.
Unless you can't drive to anywhere else, then you're MUCH better off sticking with another game store that's not too far away, like Vendetta Games in Dahlonega or TapStart Games in Westminster, both of which have or can get 40K items and neither of which will harass you for trying to help.
Edit in response to the owner: While I would give a separate review to them, there is not a separate listing on Google Reviews. Nevertheless, given how abrasive and rude Chris has been to me and others, including customers of color, it is important for me to make sure that others know so they they avoid the same kind of harassment as was dealt to me. Should there ever be a separate Google Review for them, then I will happily move...
Read moreBeen going here for about 10 years now and because I started going to classes realized the value of the products that I currently have. Greg was great at showing me how to use the products I’ve already bought and how to preserve my investments in my brush sets for oils. I don’t go to big name brand stores cause they can sell you it but can’t show you how to take care of your investment or get the best use out of a product. Jason is the best at teaching watercolor to make it understandable to adults and children. Tonya is fun to watch and is delightful at teaching pottery even though I still have trouble with it. Gail will make sure you get the best deal and match you and your budget to the best quality merchandise. I advise you to sign up for the emails and make sure you read them cause last time I was in there I got about $500 worth of merchandise for less then $300 because I found out about a sale for brushes. Way better then even Michaels coupons when you...
Read moreI added the Art-Full Barn to my planned trip to vacation in the Lake Chatuge area and it was well worth the stop on my way up. The art supply selection was everything I was hoping for and more! I snagged a few pottery glazes which is a treat since my hometown doesn't have any local art supply stores at all, let alone ones packed to the gills with professional quality products. The completed art inside and the studio/kiln spaces were thrilling to see (behind the pony door since it isn't open to public for safety of the art pieces in process). To really top off the experience we were given top notch service by the lovely shopkeeper and she was warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. I couldn't have asked for better vibes from...
