took around 4 hours and 7.5 miles to get from the parking lot to the waterfall and back. the experience was definitely worth it- even though some reviews mention graffiti i dont think it should deter you from visiting at all also when you get off the main flat land and onto the trails that lead up the river, take the worn paths that seem to lead to nowhere and dont just follow the water cause apparently it was the actual trail and we didnt figure that out until our way down (it would be on your left when heading up) wouldnt reccomend taking children under 7 here or people that have bad balance or endurance because of the steep inclines and rocks, but other than that, the black star canyons is a really amazing hike and the waterfall is a beautiful reward at the end (oγ‚œβ–½γ‚œ)oβ˜†

This is an extremely challenging hike. I recommend the following: Wear hiking shoes or Gore-Tex boots since you will get wet! Expect to hike 4-5 hours depending on your fitness and tracking skills, especially after it rains. The dirt road from parking to the creek is easy. The challenging part of the hike is when you get to creek... there will be plenty of parts that require some upper body strength since you will have to climb boulders and ropes! It's around 13K round-trip. Bring plenty of water around 2L and snacks. Have fun!

Great hike. Starts on a road up to the creek turn off. Turns into a moderate hike where u need to decide your path. Up the creek or 2 the side where trails exist. A fresh amount of poison oak exists so there is some caution to be used. We did see a western diamond back rattler sunning on a rock. These reptiles are not to be messed with.

That being said caution is expressed. The pay off of beauty and the waterfall are exceptional. So green this time of year it's a must for nature lovers.

Bikes share this trail so stay heads up and be safe. Bring water and plan for 5 to 6 hours round trip. It's 7.4 plus miles round trip.

Take all your trash and don't spray paint on rocks. Leave it better than u found it. Maybe even pick up some trash if your so inclined.

Take care of your trails and they will always amaze...
