Calling this the "Santa Ana Trail Start" is a misnomer, & a bit misleading. It is the start of the Santa Ana Trail for this section. The trail actually starts up in Loma Linda. Having said that, I have ridden this trail many times including from here to the beach. Note that while technically downhill the whole way from here to Huntington Beach, you'll encounter an afternoon breeze that will make it seem like you're riding uphill if you ride east to west. Best to start early and catch that breeze for your ride back (unless the Santa Ana Winds are blowing, then reverse that). The trail is well maintained. The homeless encampments have been removed.
