Centro Recreativo y Restaurante El Rancho — Attraction in Corozal

This is my first review of El Rancho and I will preface by indicating I’ve been coming here well over 10 years (before @ after Hurricane Maria).

Yes, the food has consistently been delicious and the service has been excellent. Last night there was live entertainment. Obviously nothing is going to be perfect although I’ve never experienced anything but a friendly atmosphere and good local cuisine.

It’s family owned and family managed with the family managers on site (Albert and wife) making sure the quality of both the food and atmosphere stays inviting and if you become a regular you practically become part of the extended family (so yes I am one of the regulars). The bar manager (Jonathan) is also a long term addition to the staff and one of the best in service I’ve encountered in the area.

Not only is it known for its restaurant, bar @ environment but the location offers pool recreation for children and adults depending on the day and season. With in the facilities are several venues for all types of events and they provide several holiday musical events to the public at no cost.

Since the operation is self sufficient (commercial generators/refrigeration/water reserve) they played an important role after Hurricane Maria (couple of days after the eye of the hurricane passed Corozal) and foods/drinks readily available for the public.

And I can’t leave out another long serving staff member who does it all (Alex / Puri) and will approach you if there’s a sense something might not be meeting to expectation.

Llegamos haciendo sol y de repente se puso el cielo negro y empezó a tronar. Sacaron a todos los que estaban en las aguas. El salvavidas dijo que en toda la semana ha estado tronando y han estado sacando gente. Se fue la luz un momento. No pudimos entrar al agua porque el salvavidas anunciaba que podían entrar y rápidamente empezaba a tronar y a relampaguear. Los adultos botamos el dinero porque nos tuvimos que ir sin disfrutar. Por lo menos el nene chiquito disfrutó alguito. Hay un área cerrada que deberían limpiar y sellar porque hay agua estancada y basura en una piscina. Hay que darle mantenimiento a todo el lugar. Hay demasiada basura tirada en los alrededores, techos de madera con telas de araña, áreas que no terminaron de pintar y pisos rotos. Lo positivo es que los baños estaban limpios y con olor a cloro. Hay un área para ordenar comida. El pollo frito con papas estaba muy bueno. Costó $7 y hay otras ofertas de nuggets, arroz con habichuelas, etc. Un pedazo de bizcocho de chocolate cuesta $6. Las áreas de piscinas tienen salvavidas y se ven limpias. En el parking hay diferentes personajes, como Mickey, la mujer maravilla, Bugs Bunny, Hulk, Ninja Turtle, el Corre caminos y el pato Lucas. La entrada es de $8 y si llevas neverita pagas $10. Encuentro que fue caro, pues llevaba unas cuantas botellas de agua y consumí en el lugar. Detrás del lugar hay un taller como de hojalateria o no sé de qué exactamente, pero los gases y el humo que salían de ese lugar llegaban hasta nosotros y nos estaba molestando. También pasan demasiados camiones y dejan el humo y la peste en el área. Vi que habían decorado un área para celebrar cumpleaños. Por lo menos para los niños hay diversas áreas de diversión. Para adultos, solamente una piscina y hay una cancha de baloncesto...

The place is great! Music, pools, all areas are segregated for different ages. Food was good but cleanliness could improve. All the pools had lime in the edges and some spaces where abandoned. Some had nest of mosquitoes. Very sad that such a good place is being let deteriorating. 3...
