I seen several individuals catch oversized reds & not put a oversized fishing tag on them, 9 oversized red fish to be exact. I witnessed two individuals walk a big ugly (oversized black drum) down the Pier (fish was dead & still in the water and still hooked up to the fishing line). There isn't a oversized fishing tag for a black drum. This black drum was loaded into their vehicle and the two individuals left the Pier. This black drum had to be over 35 inches. It was huge. I have also seen some of the individuals that fish this Pier bring up to 12 fishing rods on to the Pier. They'll spread their rods out every 10 feet. This doesn't allow a lot of space for other individuals to have a place to fish. I've seen individuals step up right next to another person that is fishing and cast their fishing line over the top of the other person's fishing line. For the most part the people who go fishing on this Pier are large groups of the 18 to 25 year old & 35 to 45 years of age & retired individuals. Most of the people who fish this Pier are rude & disrespectful of other individuals. There isn't any fee to fish the Indian Point Pier. I have contacted the Texas Parks and Wildlife department about these issues. I have caught a few speckled trout...
Read moreAWESOME AWESOME EXPERIENCE!! This pier in Portland is so relaxing. You will see big sign Indian Pier point on both sides of highway b4 driving into Corpus. Love how so many people and families come to gather at night to fish. Plenty of room for all of us to be there. We brought our own chairs but there are benches along the way. The night view was so relaxing and so was the temperature. Love how besides steps, there is a ramp access for a wheelchair. There are picnic tables for families to enjoy. There were young ladies surfing close by. It was a little tricky driving in, as there is the one road to the left to turn in to. But plenty of parking. Very safe at night due to all the people young and old out there. And no not just men, groups of women and young women also come out. I enjoyed seeing groups of young friends coming to fish. It is refreshing to see that it is still a pastime that young people still enjoy. Can't wait to...
Read moreIt's a nice enough pier, it's fairly long and wide and an accommodate a lot of fishermen. It has several cleaning stations and it is well lit. Unfortunately I could not get a single bite while fishing. I literally had the same bait on my hook all night. We did not see a single fish caught out of several dozen fishermen trying over several hours. It was a bit windy and there was a lot of chop so maybe the conditions just weren't right for fishing. However just down the causeway a few miles the trout were very active at a small pier on the opposite side of the causeway. I'm not saying that Indian Point Pier is a bad place to fish but it was a bad place for me to fish that night. The pier is free, there is ample parking and there are portable toilets in the parking lot. Check it out sometime, it's a nice pier and maybe you'll have better luck...
