We had a really great time, but as women, watch yourselves. I had a strong feeling to get up and leave (we had planned for beach camping) so as we packed up and headed to my car I noticed there was a man looking through the windows of my vehicle. Jellyfish are on the rise as well, so take some vinegar or buy the spray, itās about 20 bucks in the main office (FIRST CONVENIENCE BANK OF TEXAS does not allow transactions here) cash or another type of bank card or credit card is advised. The night sky is BEYOND beautiful!! Winds are strong! Be prepared for not just sunburns, but wind burns as well. I do not easily sunburn, but this time I caught a sun and wind slap! MOSQUITOES look PREHISTORIC and they do not care about the deet! Showers and restrooms are available! Fairly clean considering theyāre public (just my experience over the weekend), and they also have quick rinse off showers located between the menās and womenās facilities. Beach driving, just donāt risk it. We witnessed even 4x4s stuck in the loose white sand! Thereās plenty of parking outside of the beach entrance, walking distance, might be a bit inconvenient, but it beats looking like a dummy!! Get there early for a picnic table.

Love, love, love this State Park! Nice shower house especailly if you dry camp on the beach side. However, the shower water never gets real hot so be prepared if it's a little cool outside, it can be pretty cold. Dry camping with our 38ft Cruiser Air was a grand adventure. We didn't park our camper too far down the beach so we didn't have any issues getting stuck. However, we did see several people get stuck and they were only in cars and small trucks, two wheel drives. We got to see sunrises AND sunsets that was amazing. Most days though it was pretty windy so we flew kites and body surfed the waves. Also, be prepared to pack a jacket and pants as the temperature changes frequently and if you are cold natured like me then definitely bring some warm clothes especially if you go in the cooler months. The sand at Mustang Island is so nice and soft but it's also very fine, be careful not to leave your windows open on windy days or nights or you will have enough sand in your camper to build a sand castle. We did and we got a sand bath too. Lol. On our second to last day a Konna Ice snow cone truck came and drove the beach. The kids loved it, snow cones on the beach!

Bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. See pics. The rest of the park was lovely. The road down the middle of the two rows of RVs was very very wide, making parking a breeze. The people were very lovely - everyone was pleasant. It is right down a trail from the beach. Very easy on and off. About 8 minutes from restaurants, either north to Port Aransas or south towards Corpus. The bathrooms were as disgusting as I have ever seen. Dead bugs on the wall, cockroaches on the floor, and don't ask about the weird speckles on the wall and what that white stuff is on the door latch. I brought photos to the office. They were very responsive and promised to resolve. A week later, nothing. And what the actual hell is with the buttons in the shower. I get that you want to conserve water, but these give you maybe 10 seconds of water. What are we, 12? Maybe set it to a minute? Pros Very close to the beach 50amp Good water pressure Easy to park Cons Disgusting bathrooms (see pics) NO SEWER AT THE SITE You need to carefully select your site so that the utilities are on the utility side. Otherwise, they will be on your door side. Very odd

IMPORTANT: If you plan on camping, you need to be here before 8 PM! That's when the office closes and they give you your parking/ camping pass. When we went, it was $5/ adult plus $10 for camping in a tent. My friends and I camped here for a weekend and had an absolute blast! There is a two-story building across from the office building that has showers on the first floor and bathrooms on the second floor. So nice to have some creature comforts! We were able to pitch our tent just fine on the beach. My minivan never got stuck in the sand, and I didn't see anyone having that issue while we were here. The sand feels sooo good! No large shells, like on the Corpus Christi Bay area. There wasn't a ton of seaweed when we went either, like how it can build up in Galveston. Camping was super fun! We were able to have a campfire and make s'mores. Build your pit kind of deep, around 1.5-2 feet deep, because the wind picks up. At night, the stars were beautiful. They also have patrol that goes around at night for security. For scenic views, the sun rises on this side of the island, so you won't be able to get a picture of the sunset here.

So, the campground isnāt that impressive. The campsites are really close with no privacy at all. If I was just rating the campground, itās probably a 2. But⦠The Gulf of Mexico, beaches, nearby beach towns, sunsets and things to see/do have a way of helping you overlook the shortcomings. We hit this in Feb, arriving at the same time as the coldest storm on record. Yet, after a few days the sun returned and it started to feel like a beach vacation again. You canāt see the water from the campsite, but itās just a short walk or drive away. You can definitely hear the surf crashing as you sit out at night. Nearby Port Aransas will let you camp right on the beach with a camper or tent if you prefer. The Corpus Christi seawall provides a great walk with plenty of picnic areas and nature parks. Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve was a pleasant surprise with nice trails and a focus on birding. The jetties provide good fishing or allow for you to just sit and watch the porpoises and pelicans. If youāre a beach person, then youāll probably enjoy this park.
