This was a fun and exciting adventure that my daughter and son in law took after we left Mesa Verde. We were spending the weekend celebrating my birthday and decided to try something different and Dotty Wampus caught our attention because we love chocolate. We were not aware of how far down a dirt road we would have to go and I got a bit nervous. When we arrived it looked like a witches house and I said to my kids I hope I have not made a mistake.

However once we were inside that is when the magic began to happen. Joanne greeted us warmly and made sure we all had cold sparkling or bottled water. In just a few moments Bryan popped out and it was like Willy Wonka had showed up. From the moment the show began we were all mesmerized. Bryan is very engaging and laughs at his own jokes (We Liked That) while giving a stellar performance and education in the history of chocolate and how to make some fantastic chocolate concoctions (which Joanne enhances with her artistic expertise). It was very much worth the money and we left with over a dozen of truffles.

If you are out in southwest Colorado there is not a lot to do out side of the national parks, hiking and taking in the scenery, so this was a little something whimsical, quirky, fun, educating and tasty to do to get out of the summer heat. I highly recommend a visit if you are passing through Cortez on your way to the next adventure give this one a try as...

I knew going in that this was going to be a great experience, and it did not disappoint. There's a rare skill of showmanship and merriment that underlies Dotty Wampus and the couple who built it. Consummate showmanship and chocolatiers, it's the rare perfect blend of unpretentious fun, magic, and excellent recipes. The show has just the right degree of self-consciousness and actual education, and manages to not feel overly commercialized. You'll wonder if you've gotten lost on the drive in, then ask if you're in the right place or not, but trust the handmade sign to tell you that you've indeed arrived at the right destination.

I sincerely hope that Bryan and Joanne continue to grow and build Dotty Wampus for many years to come! I intend to go back and...

Dotty Wampus Magical Chocolate Factory really lives up to its name! it was truly a magical experience. From the moment we walked in, everything felt warm, welcoming, and full of wonder. The space is creative and fun, and you can tell a lot of heart went into building this place.

I ended up buying a lot because everything we tried on our tour was so good, but the pop rock chocolates were hands down my personal favorite. They were nostalgic, unique, and just plain delicious.

If you’re making a trip to the 4corners or Mesa Verde you have got to include this tour in your agenda. Cortez is incredibly lucky to have something this unique. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, make sure to stop in. It’s not just a chocolate shop……. it’s...

One of the coolest, quirkiest, most unique experiences I've had in a long time... I don't want to say too much about it, because it's more fun to go without knowing what to expect! I contacted the owners, Bryan and Joanne before booking tickets to ask if it would be possible to accommodate my son's nut allergies, and they said that it wasn't a problem, and I'm so glad because it was such a fun experience to get to do with the whole family. So grateful the experience is food allergy friendly! The chocolates are amazing, and we bought several boxes to take with us after the tasting experience. We've done chocolate tastings before, but NOTHING like this. I highly recommend the tour to anyone who loves chocolate, magic, and/or the unusual.

Okay, first off, do NOT be disturbed by the long drive to the middle of nowhere! You will drive and think you’re in the wrong place, but you’ll finally see the Dotty Wampus mascot on a fence post after the campground and you will drive down another lane, and park in a dirt lot by some run down barns and then you’ll see a patio and you will arrive IN CHOCOLATE BON BON PARADISE!!!! Be prepared for a silly, zany, wacky, show that is scientific and historical. The very best part of the show, there are chocolates to taste with every “scene”! Really the chocolates are divine and the show is delightful if you are there to enjoy some chocolate genius’s side hustle as an animatronics enthusiast. Highly recommended!
