Today is Christmas, and I was driving by tonight, and I saw all of the lights. I went in and started to take videos of all of the incredible lights.
When I pulled in, it looked like there was one way to enter, and I assumed that there was another way to exit. I figured it was to keep the flow of traffic.
I'd never been to this place before, and so I have no idea what it looks like during the day. I drove by a sign that said that one of the paths was "exit only," so I took another. As I went around the curve, I saw another sign & it said to tune to a certain radio station, so I did.
As I got to the next curve, I saw a man coming towards my car, and I almost didn't see him. I pulled over as he walked closer to my car, and he told me that they were closed. I was bummed, but I figured oh well.
He had an attitude, but I brushed it off, because it's Christmas. I went back towards the direction I entered, and drove past it to look for the exit. I didn't want to go out the single lane I came in, just in case someone else thought it was still open too, and I didn't want to get hit.
As I was driving parallel with the road looking for the exit, the guy and some woman cane flying up behind my car, pulled around me, cut me off, parked, and jumped out of their car.
Ok, I don't know you, I'm trying to leave, and two people block me 9fd and started yelling something walking towards my car. That is a dangerous situation for a woman who was BY HERSELF & NOT BEING RUDE TO ANYONE.
I couldn't hear them at first, but they were shouting as they approached my car, with their arms pointing at me. They were yelling that I had to leave and were being extremely rude.
It was unnerving & completely unnecessary. I was just trying to find the exit. It's not like I was driving away from the road, I was driving parallel to it, and common sense would tell anyone that I was looking for where to go.
I pointed at an open area, where I thought the exit was, and asked, "there isn't an exit right there? They started yelling for me to get off their property, & they were trying to close. I said that I was looking for the exit, because I assumed it was different from the entrance.
I told her that I wasn't from around here, I have family in Crystal, and I'm heading back to Kalamazoo. I didn't know where the exit was and I wasn't trying to be sneaky or anything. I thought I was heading towards the exit.
The woman demands I turn around, but they still had my car blocked. I had to do a 6 point turn IN A SMART CAR, just to change directions. My car is tiny. There's no reason they should have me so blocked that I have to do a 6 point turn!
I didn't see hours posted ANYWHERE, & again I'm not from this area. As I was trying to do thos obnoxious turn, the guy actually backed up CLOSER to my car.
She's still yelling, and I have no idea what's she's saying, but I said to her out of my window, as I was trying to turn around, "oh my gosh, I didn't realize this was your house. I just saw the beautiful lights and wanted to take a look around."
I was nice and polite the ENTIRE time. They were rude, tried to intimate me, they were shouting, being aggressive, and I was really uncomfortable.
I will NEVER go back, and I don't encourage anyone else to either.
I made a simple mistake because I wasn't from the area, and there were no visible posted hours, or visible arrows directing people out. The two could have turned the entrance lights off too, and it would have been obvious that they were closed. They could have laughed it off too, because IT'S CHRISTMAS & they have Christmas lights up!!!
Lose the attitudes & be more professional. I don't care if you wanted to hurry. I don't care if you're in a bad mood. Don't be horrible t9 people on Christmas! What is wrong with you?!!
ALSO, GET A SIGN THAT SAYS CLOSED!!! They aren't expensive, and clearly you guys have money.
I will NEVER support a business that treats people like that, and no one else...
Read moreIt was a blast! The safari was awesome! Just a suggestion to the attendant who works there: when asked if you need more than 1 bucket of food per person for the safari, always suggest more! It's not going to hurt having left over food that you can use in the other park! But having ZERO food just past the camels because the camels decided to attach themselves to the bowl and dump most of your food out, makes for a sad safari, feeding-wise. It was still enjoyable looking at the bison and deer with our windows up, but it would have been a different experience for us if we could have fed them. The side of my car is visibly tainted from the deer and bison- their saliva is all over my windows and side panels! Quite comical, honestly! We had a blast petting the couple of camels in their pen in the adventure park . They were so nice and gentle. My friend who I encouraged to feed them, had previously had an experience with a camel a couple of years ago freaked out and has had a phobia from them, since! So, she was able to overcome her phobia and pet and feed both of the single hump camels as well as the double hump camel next door in the adjacent pen! He was a funny camel! Absolutely beautiful creatures!
The only negative thing I have to say is that my friend was in a wheelchair and we went into the canary exhibit. There are 3 doors that you have to go through to get into the main area. And in order to get to the main platform, you have to go up a VERY STEEP incline. Well, my friend fell out of her chair, banged up her knees and both elbows. There's no room at the bottom of the incline to put the chair for her to get back on. To the door had to be opened, wheelchair is positioned in the middle of the door, she is hobbling up to it. We made our way back to the general store to get some band-aids. The guy who was at the safari, was now working at the post! Not the gal who was super helpful and very informative! :( We asked for some band-aids, he asked for how many. We said, probably 4. He literally sat there thumbing through the band-aids for a few minutes because they were sticking together, while my friend was bleeding quite profusely! This kid is not helpful, in fact, he is hurting your business! He has a zero personality when it comes to working with the public. I've worked in retail for over 35 years and if I would have treated anyone like we were treated Friday, I would have lost my job, immediately!
The ice cream.... the ice cream.... yes I know I said it twice... y'all it is so delicious! The BEST ice we've ever had! And that is say a lot. We've taken a lot of adventures around the state and gotten ice cream, claiming to be the best... um, well... your ice cream is hands down, THE BEST ice cream in the state of Michigan that we have had, so far! It's super creamy, the strawberries in the strawberry cheesecake, are full berries and there a lot of them! The cookies in the cookie dough is the best, from what my friend said and she is very versed in cookie dough ice cream!
We will be back, even if it is just for the ice cream! Thanks for the...
Read moreI've been there three times now. The Safari is absolutely the best. The petting zoo is nice as well, but not nearly as much fun as the safari. In the petting zoo you can sit on the ground and piglets and kids (baby goats) will come right up to you and you can pet them. Incredibly adorable. There is an area where you can sit down and have someone put a tiny little bunny on your lap. Just the tiniest little babies. There's also an area where you can go in and feed parakeets. They also have camels and I can't think of all what else. There are also several little playgrounds and sandboxes for little children to play in. You can buy food there to feed the animals with. Very very nice place to bring Young children. Actually my teenager enjoyed it too lol. At the Safari you drive through an area that has a variety of animals. You can buy a bucket of food to feed them with. It is quite hysterical. Quite often the animals do not wait until you get the bucket out the window. Which by the way you need to hold on to very tightly with both hands because they will snag it and knock it out of your hand if they can. I had the bucket of food sitting in my passenger side seat when I was driving in a llama stuck his head right into the car and started eating it right out of the passenger side seat. They have llamas and alpacas, dear, emu, ostrich, cows, bison, even a yak I think. You do have to be careful while driving because they will surround your car and sometimes you can't go anywhere for a while because they are blocking you. Like I said I have been there three times now and there has never been a time I have been there and not laughed my butt off. The animals are absolutely beautiful and great fun. They also have camels and horses you can feed but they are behind offense they can't just walk up to your car like the other animals. But you can pull up near them and feed them. The horses face is pretty much filled up my entire window when we pulled up to them. Absolutely beautiful creatures. I have taken my grandson there twice. He absolutely loves it, and he is six. My youngest child is 16 and she loves it as well. I could go through there every day and have a...
