A friend found this trail in an e-newsletter. Such a nice trail. Mostly well-marked and defined. Shaded. Earthen, rooty, no gravel. A few lovely views of Lake Wylie. Sun-bathing turtles. Chattering squirrels. Birds singing. Beautiful heron flock lifting en masse off a calm lake surface. Breezes whispering sweetly through the trees. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there.
This trail passes through Daniel Stowe BG property. It is where we ran into mud -- a long stretch of it. Otherwise, it was a pleasant walk through the woods. Take a left coming out of the woods, follow the paved road around to DSBG parking lot, pass by it, stay left on the pavement until you see a sign to your left for Persimmon trail. Take this to continue the loop. Note, this a 5 mile loop total, according to my trail recording on...
ย ย ย Read moreThis is an easy trial with a variety of different scenery along the way. Creeks, lakeside, Forrest, and a parking lot. Speaking of parking lots. The map pin will take you to a smaller parking lot. You may or may not get a spot depending on the time of day. This trail takes you to the Botanical garden so you could park there and start from one side or the other. However, from this start point there are is no map signage to start you off. I added a photo for people to have. In either direction youโd go across the drive through area in front of the building to get to the other half of the trail if you start from the small lot. You will see plenty of people and dogs. Be careful for snakes as things warm up. An easy hike/walk to do with...

If you have bad balance the hills might be a bit much. There is no bathroom. Iโm all for going in the woods, but you have to be careful as itโs pretty crowded at times and people pop up out of nowhere. Also peopleโs homes are in view which is a bit discouraging. I prefer more isolated hiking places. There are benches every half mile or so. Wear shoes that can stand some mud and be ready for clomping around a lot of mud pits if it rained within the last day or two. Overall very...
