In the picturesque town of Crescent City, California, there lived an adventurous German Shepherd named Los Mitchell. One sunny day, Los set out on an exciting adventure along the famous Carl’s Barrel Road. This trail, renowned for its stunning vistas and challenging paths, was a perfect playground for an energetic and curious dog like Los.
As Los trotted along the trail, his keen senses were delighted by the sights and sounds of nature. He encountered squirrels darting through the underbrush and birds singing in the trees. The wind rustled through his fur as he navigated the winding path, each twist and turn bringing new excitement.
Upon reaching a scenic overlook, Los paused to take in the breathtaking view of Crescent City below and the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean. He basked in the warm sunlight, feeling a sense of freedom and joy.
After his thrilling hike, Los headed to Crescent City Beach. The beach was a stark contrast to the rugged trail of Carl’s Barrel Road. Here, he playfully chased the waves and dug in the soft, golden sand, enjoying the different textures under his paws.
As the day turned to evening, Los strolled past the Chart Restaurant, a local favorite known for its friendly atmosphere and the delicious smells that wafted from its kitchen. Los, content with his day’s adventures, made his way home, his heart full of the day’s experiences.
Los Mitchell’s adventure along Carl’s Barrel Road and at Crescent City Beach was a testament to the joy and discovery that awaited in the natural world. It was a day that Los would always remember fondly.
After his exhilarating day exploring Carl’s Barrel Road and Crescent City Beach, Los, the adventurous German Shepherd, and his owner decided to stay at the Anchor Bay Motel. Known for its dog-friendly policies, the motel was the perfect choice for them. Los was welcomed with open arms, which made them both feel right at home. The motel provided a comfortable and relaxing environment, where Los could rest his paws after a day full of activities.
The next day, they set out to explore the famous Redwoods. These majestic trees, some of the tallest and oldest on Earth, provided a completely different atmosphere from the beach and the hiking trail. The parts of the Redwoods that were accessible to dogs were a wonderland for Los. He was fascinated by the towering trees and the myriad of scents that filled the air. The forest floor, covered in a carpet of ferns and fallen leaves, was soft under his paws, and the cool, fresh air was invigorating.
Los and his owner spent hours wandering through these ancient woods, feeling small under the immense canopy. The tranquility of the forest was a stark contrast to the lively beach and rugged hiking trail, offering them a chance to slow down and appreciate the quiet beauty of nature.
Their stay at the Anchor Bay Motel and the visit to the dog-friendly parts of the Redwoods were the perfect end to Los’s adventure in Crescent City. It was a trip filled with diverse experiences, from the thrill of hiking and playing on the beach to the...
Read moreWe have tent camped here twice and it is one of my favorite places in California. I would suggest to "know" the campgrounds before you go because you could be in for a treat. We LOVE adventures so it did not bother us at all the first time we went that we had to climb 2 sets of beautiful aged wooden moss covered stairs to arrive at our own little "private" oasis in Space 90! It was breathtaking and accommodated our huge tent. Not all the spaces are like this only a few. Some spaces are smaller while others are quite large.
I recommend when reserving your space to read the info and get a site that is fully shaded if you want a lusher beautiful space. Most spaces make you feel as if your the only ones there... very serene and mystical. There are other campers but it is very quiet, unlike anywhere else I have ever camped before in 38 years.
The drive into the campground is a little bit windy and full of newer growth Redwoods simply stunning and makes you feel as if you're entering another world! As like most camping grounds bring your quarters for showers. There is no "general store" here and if you happen to forget an essential like milk for the kids or tent stakes :-/ never fear; you can always take about a 10 minute gorgeous drive North into Crescent City.
We did drive and take a look at The Jedediah Smith Redwoods Campground and it was stunningly beautiful with older growth Redwoods. If you can't get a reservation there please do not hesitate to stay here you will NOT be disappointed! A piece of my heart now...
Read moreWe just came home from a wonderful vacation driving the Oregon coast. One of our stops was this campground. It's beautiful and so what we were looking for. We made reservations months ago and were so excited when we pulled in. Until the rangers came to our site. We made reservations on the wed site and were assigned a spot in the conformation email it was a handicap spot they assigned us. He said we were parked illegally and it would be another fee for our 2 night stay. We already prepaid for our stay. Would not move us and offered to call the police. We are a family on vacation with our 7 year old daughter. She could not understand why the ranger was so mean to us. He was rude and it was very upsetting to be treated in this matter. We did not ask for this spot and nor did we know it was a handicap spot. I hoping this gets to the right person. Because I would love to speak with the person in charge. It would not let me post until I gave one star but I would have gone 0! We left and went to another park and had a wonderful time! We are still out the money we spent on our 2 nights. But we were not going to be out anymore money! It felt like the rangers were trying to (roll) us for under the table money for there own pockets. Something someone should look into I would feel bad if this happens to some...
