Iāve wanted to hike during wildflower season in Crested Butte for many, many years now but itās been a tough time of year to make it happen.
After a long wait and lot of trail hunting, we landed on Snodgrass and WOW.. definitely would do again!
I had read a couple of recommendations to take the trail to the right (Teddyās Trail) near the beginning of the hike and am SO happy we took that advice. The wildflowers were still quite lush but a couple of weeks earlier would have been best. We got to hike through a stunning aspen grove which was a wonderful reprieve from the sun.
The summit, as others have mentioned, doesnāt have the standard sweeping panoramic view but itās still beautiful. If youāre going for ease & the views, the first half of the trail is all you need but if youāre trying to get a solid workout in - then stop by the top and make the whole loop.
Make sure to take enough ice water, sun protection, and maybe a bandana or something for your mouth/nose as the dust got pretty rough at points.
Canāt wait to hike round...

The wildflowers were absolutely popping! It felt like walking through a living postcard, with vibrant colors in every direction.
We didnāt hike all the way up to the top since the trees tend to block most of the views higher up, but the lower portions offered plenty of scenic beauty to enjoy. The trail is well-maintained and not too strenuous, making it a great option for a mid-day outing.
Only downside: we saw a couple of people with off-leash dogs, which was a bit frustrating. Itās a shared trail, and keeping pets leashed is just common courtesy.
Overall, a gorgeous trail and definitely worth checking out, especially during...

Backpack and some changes of clothes at keast.. put some hiking gear in there too. These are real trails if you are from out of state like me. Don't think these are all easy trails. Be prepared it you are bringing kids. Be prepared. Do not rely on cell phones if you go hiking. And if you are gonna challenge your self. Tell someone when you are leaving and call them when you are scheduled to be home. Im just saying its a resort but its also way out I....
