Such a beautiful hike!! I've been wanting to hike this trail for about 3 years and we finally made it up for Mother's Day. We loved it!! Definitely bring water and use the bathroom first, as there are no facilities nearby, and remember a couple nature courtesy rules: TAKE ONLY PICTURES, LEAVE ONLY FOOTPRINTS. Pack it in, Pack it out. If you bring trash, food wrappers, water bottles, pet waste bags, etc, take it back out of the forest with you and dispose of it properly when you leave. Enjoy it, don't destroy it. Graffiti here is heartbreaking (pun totally intended). Save your tagging for the fence in your own back yard where no one else has to see it. Don't spoil the beautiful scenery here with spray paint or carving into a tree! Preserve it for those following in your footsteps! 💖💖
The rock is a little hard to find, but that is part of the fun of exploration and discovery. Absolutely gorgeous, and almost everyone we met on the trail was friendly and cheerful, calling "Happy Mother's Day!" Back and forth, showing trail courtesy and moving aside for others to pass, and contributing to the spirit of the hike. Water was running in the creek, which our boys loved. Can't wait to come back...
Read moreA easy-moderate hike that's about 2.5 miles round trip. We went in the summer (Aug) while visiting Lake Gregory and it wasn't very busy nor was there hardly any water at the bottom like some photos show... Parking is street side just before you get to Camp Seely in The Valley of Enchantment. Very easy to just pass it if you don't realize it's a trail next to Camp Seely... We made a big loop before we came back around and figured it out. Once on the trail stay to the right... Eventually there will be a rock on your left that says "1 mile to Heart Rock" with an arrow pointing... It's actually more like a quarter of a mile and if you've never been there before (like us) you can easily hike right by it; thank God for a couple of locals that showed us the way...What you're looking for is a tree that has fallen into the "V" shape of 2 other trees like it could be sling shotted away. Once you reach this point you'll climb down the rocks and see the two predominant rock formations like you see in photos... And there you have it. You can go further if you want, we turned around and went...
Read moreThe view through out the entire trail will not disappoint. I saw so many beautiful trees. Also you CAN park at the trail head. Most people park at the entrance to Camp Seely is off Sierra Hg.If you drive in , make a slight left and follow the paved road for about 5 min you will reach the trail head on the right. In front will be a no access fence. To the left will be a turn out to park. On the dirt. Less of a trek and you avoid the hill. Howevers this is NOT an easy hike. Bring hiking shoes. The heart rock is under a steep cliff. The trail going down to the Fall seems simple enough but there are also very narrow curves on the edge of the mountain. So watch your step. It took me about an hour to get to the falls even though somebody on another review said it'd take an 15 min. It wont. If you run,maybe,...If you want to break a leg or slide down or die. It took me 2 hours. It's harder walking back up so take your time. The waterfall and views and smells make...
