My wife and son were out of town so I decided to take a quick trip to Hideaway Pizza for lunch. While there, I looked up comic book and hobby stores in the area and found GMG. After I finished eating, I headed over to check out the store.
There is a lot packed into the front end of the place: comics, CCGs, D&D, and lots of board games. The owner (who was running around like mad because they were PACKED to the gills busy) stopped and asked if she could help me. I asked about where I was allowed to go to which she replied, "Pretty much anywhere but behind the counter." I thanked her then spotted what looked to be a tunnel into the next room.
This opened up into a large room with several tables set up for what I can only assume is any kind of tabletop gaming you can imagine. (I saw what looked like 40K terrain and other types of dungeon dressing stuff.) That day, however, the were hosting a CCG tournament. It wasn't MtG, as I'd have recognized that, but something else entirely. Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh, more than likely, but I'm not familiar enough with either to hazard a guess. It looked like everyone was having a good time and so I didn't intrude on their tourney for long.
All in all I was impressed with GameMasters Guild, especially the atmospheric game room. The owners were quite busy, but still took time out of their schedule to ask if I needed help with anything. I hope they are able to...
Read moreThis review is not about anything other than prices, Im sure everyone is super nice. Also, I want to admit that I do not live in Crestview, but I visit often (weekly). Regarding MTG cards, theyre selling several products at a much higher price than what you can find online at TCG (a site where small business across the country sell their products). They have a Command Masters Precon (Planeswalker Party) on the shelf for $99.99 that you can order online for $49.99. In fact, I bought the exact precon a few days after my last visit to GMG, at my local gaming store, for $40.00 and then bought another Command Masters Precon for $50.00. Several of their booster packs seemed overpriced as well, though I dont remember the specifics so dont quote me. Crestview is a tiny place and there arent many options for people to find product else where but if you wanna find it all for much cheaper, just go online. I would hope that GameMasters Guild wasnt leveraging the fact they are the only gaming store in the area to double the price of their products. Regardless, before you go into this store just check online for prices because more than likely youre gunna find a much...
Read moreFamily all over so I road trip extensively. My favorite thing to break up the trips is finding and stopping in comic, card, games, and collectable shops. This was such a a monumental find. Had a large amount of specific lorcana cards from my wife's list. Plus plenty fresh packs or lorcana, pokemon and more. An amazing selection really with all the extras too. The collectable variety was fantastic as well. They even had this wonderful gamer style things for pets section that I've never seen the likes of. Local artists were featured and the comic selection was impressive as well. I think I found at least ten fairly priced back issues I've been looking for. Graphic novel selection was decent as well. But the gaming space was crazy impressive. I love my local but this place blows it out of the water. Truly a gamers dream store. I'm personally not into Warhammer and such but it's worth mentioning that there was a large area committed to that kind of gaming as well. Store merch and a cool used book shelf as well. I cannot say enough good about this place. I stayed way too long and spent too much for a road trip stop but it was absolutely...
