St. Croix Fire Tower — Attraction in Crosby Township

Small parking lot. Be sure to use the restroom at the entrance park office. There is no Porta potty at the fire tower. There is a picnic bench. Watch out for people riding their horses. Mosquitoes weren't that bad. The views were amazing. The hike up the stairs wasn't bad. If you're afraid of heights, the tower does shake a bit, and the steps are steep. My son(7yo) was nervous at first and said it was easier than he thought it would be. Google maps points you to the intersection of bear creek parking lot and the main road. Saint Croix State Park is quite large, but most of it is new growth forest and scrub-oak savanna, so the fire tower is a highlight of the park. It rises 100 feet from the forest floor and access to the top requires ascending 134 steep steps. It's not for the faint of heart, nor for those who have a fear of heights. There are firetowers all over Minnesota but this is one of the few you're legally allowed to climb up, with intact sturdy stairs going all the way up.
