Small parking lot. Be sure to use the restroom at the entrance park office. There is no Porta potty at the fire tower. There is a picnic bench. Watch out for people riding their horses. Mosquitoes weren't that bad. The views were amazing. The hike up the stairs wasn't bad. If you're afraid of heights, the tower does shake a bit, and the steps are steep. My son(7yo) was nervous at first and said it was easier than he thought it would be. Google maps points you to the intersection of bear creek parking lot and the main road. Keep going on the main road(a couple of miles) until you reach the dead end where the parking lot is. 132 steps 8 flights of stairs 6 people max at a time

There are firetowers all over Minnesota but this is one of the few you're legally allowed to climb up, with intact sturdy stairs going all the way up. I enjoyed an afternoon reading my book up here and enjoying the pretty fall colors. You can hike in from the North along the firewatch road, or drive all the way up to the base of the tower from the East. There's one picnic table and trails around the tower. No bathroom besides the one nature provides

Went to the fires tower on. A day when air quality wasnt the best, the pictures didn't turn out so well with the humidity fogging up my camera lens. But the view was worth it! Try to take your time if your nervous and go all the way to the top of the 130 stair climb to get the best view, you're caged in at the top and feel much more secure. You can always sit down and catch your breath if your feeling the heights are too much.

Saint Croix State Park is quite large, but most of it is new growth forest and scrub-oak savanna, so the fire tower is a highlight of the park. It rises 100 feet from the forest floor and access to the top requires ascending 134 steep steps. It's not for the faint of heart, nor for those who have a fear of heights. The view from the top is spectacular, and we heard bird songs from several species of birds. We decided that next time we go, we would climb it just before dawn and watch the...
