It may be 2024, but walk through the gates of Stricker’s Grove and it’s 1994. Family Day this year was pure sweet nostalgia. Our first ride was the train. Everyone was so kind and patient standing in line, which moved extremely fast, and everyone was so friendly. We hopped on the train and instantly spotted a bald eagle flying low over the field next to the park. The train takes you all around the property and alongside the farm next door (the fall mums are almost ready, and the pumpkin patch is sprawling!) Then we grabbed a hot dog ($2) and a hot mett ($4). Drinks were FREE (we each grabbed an Orange Crush for the vintage vibes). Then we were back in line— for The Tornado! This little wooden coaster is a BLAST. The air time you get on these hills is unmatched. As we climbed the first hill, the little girl in front of me put her hands up, but the kid behind us screamed, “But what if I dieeee?!” 🤣 My husband was certain the train left the track after the airtime on that second hill, but we did not. A minute later we were back at the station, safe and sound but thoroughly thrilled! Then we rode The Teddy Bear— a replica of the original Coney Island kiddie coaster— and it was just as fun, though a little less thrilling. All in all, this is a great little park. Everything is well kept and clean and fun. Perfect place for a company picnic or the 4th of July or the Hamilton County Fair or the second Sunday in August. 🤗 My deepest thanks to the owners and employees for keeping it so nineties and lovely and open to the public for these 4 precious days a year. It’s got to be a lot of work keeping it so nice but all that hard work doesn’t go unnoticed! This little park is a time capsule and a treasure. We had such a...
Read moreThis is one of the best family places around. It's only open 4 days out of the year to the public unfortunately. This place is like a carnival with rollercoasters. There's around 5 dedicated kiddy rides for only kids, and then some family rides; such as a carousel, ferris wheel, dumbo ride, and flying scooters. There are 2 rollercoasters there, one of which is great for kids just getting the feel of them.
There's also a 1/2 mile train ride that takes you around the property. even for a thrill seeker, the coasters have old fashioned buzz bars, and give you plenty of "air-time" to more than enjoy yourself! Plus most of the days they offer free parking, soft drinks, cotton candy and even free sno-cones (depending on the time of year). They also have a dedicated skee-ball arcade, regular arcade and good old fashion carnival games.
They shut the rides down for an hour around dinner time, and you can either eat in the park (a hamburger plus chips, potato salad, and corn on the cob or baked beans runs you around $5) or you can bring in a cooler, tableclothe, picnic blanket, drinks, food, just about anything (except alcohol, which they do serve there) and picnic in their grove full of picnic tables or under their spacious shelter house. They also have a huge banquet hall for private parties/corporate picnics. I almost want to dock it a star for only being open 4 days, but even going once a season is...
Read moreWhat an adorable little park. I went for the first time this year and was pleasantly surprised to how clean and well maintained Stricker's Grove was. As a coaster enthusiast I liked both the Teddy Bear for it's smoothness and Tornado for it's surprising airtime hills at the end. I recommend riding in the back car, mid or back row for the best experience on the ride's most powerful airtime hill. Excellent service, and great staff around the entire park. The operators were friendly and the food service staff were fast and respectful. When my friend and I went there was a big barbeque stand setup for the guests for the 4th of July. The prices were great and the food was definitely above average. As we bought our wristbands we also met one of the owners of the park. She told us a bit of the park's history about her father building their wooden coasters, she was also very kind. Sadly they are only open about ten times a year it seems. I knew this and planned to visit on one of their open to public days. Really cute little park, super charming. If you are a local or an enthusiast in the area I whole heartily recommend going to Stricker's Grove and giving them some support. Charming little theme parks close each and every year, so don't let Stricker's Grove be...
